That is just Awesome!
I find this experiment so unremarkable, it's not funny. Actually, it is funny, that they think this is some sort of new information.
What they did was essentially the same thing occultists do when they create a sigil. Only they used a sound instead of a visual cue. That knowledge has been around for a long, long time.
Regardless of how unremarkable you may think it is, I think it would be pretty awesome if they find out how to do it in humans and then make methods available so we can do it at home.

Why would it be any different in humans than with rats? You already know everything you need to to do it yourself.
Do something like make a compilation of awesome fight scenes from movies. Overlay a sound track of a certain tone or song, then watch the hell out of it. Have someone play that sound or song when they see your are in REM sleep, and you've got yourself an awesome fight dream. It's not rocket science, only neuroscience.
