I think the best way to become smarter, is becoming lucid. As far as I'm concerned, the brain doesn't want to waste energy on 'being smart' in dreams, it's not supposed to be.
From what I understand, you meant how to increase logic once lucid right? Or did you mean how to increase dream logic in general as a way to achieve lucidity?
If you meant the former...
Hmm the only things I do to increase my logic in lucids is to ask myself logical questions, usually in the form of reality checks (even after I become lucid). I would keep questioning even the most basic stuff like, "Why do I have 10 fingers? What is 5 times 9? Why is this a dream and how can I be sure?"..basically anything that requires a logical answer, just to keep sorta stimulating my logical thinking.
Baaah, see ya around.
I think he means how do you remember to do things in lucid dreams. Of the last 4 LDs I have had I have only had one that I stabilized myself in the dream, and I only did that after about a minute of thinking of what to do. After stabilization I seemed to remember more. I would try My Tutorial for extending Lucid Dream Time. Hours of LD. - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views. If you can't remember to stabilize then put it in your mantra, that is what I am trying now. :)
LOL, love your description. Yeah, either ask yourself logical questions, resolve to carry out certain actions in your dream before you go to bed, or imagine that you're a genius or something.
Hmm... Why does it seem people have such a tendency to figure such complex things out in their head when dreaming, like Einstein? How do people compose such genius stories or musical works in their head?
I wonder if there's really a way to mod your conscious brain to work in some sort of "hyper-drive"... or perhaps that's futile and the placebo is the only effect you would gain?
I don't think we're stupid in dreams, but unless you're completely lucid and stabilize your dream you won't be very conscious of anything so you will probably do some things that will seem stupid when you remember them after you wake up.
Hmm not sure, but I found this interesting: Dreams Make You Smarter, More Creative, Studies Suggest
Basically it says that dreaming enables our mind to play out events and create connections between ideas which we normally wouldn't be able to do while awake. Plus those geniuses have really high IQ's, so that helps too. Haha!
I think he is talking about not grasping the four implications of dreaming. Be aware that you are in control of the dream, be aware that dream characters aren't real, be aware that the dream situation in a dream isn't important and not the highest priority or the fact that you have a body laying in bed. If you don't realize this even though you are lucid, you need to work on awareness.
Stephen LaBerge talks about not grapsing the dream situation in this video: He use the example of an important bag you just can't get your mind off. (around 04:02)

There are things that you can do within the dream, but what I found works best (which is a little risky) is to wake yourself up and then enter the dream from a conscious awakening.
In other words Dream Chaining. When you do this you are just as smart (aware) in the dream as you are awake.
But keep in mind that you can still be fooled, and even though you might feel super aware now, there are higher states of awareness to attain.
For example not getting directed by the dream or having the dream characters aware that they are dreaming. It's sort of like the ending of Vanilla Sky where you meet the professor, you are free at last. :)
Haha I agree but if you wait until you wake up naturally your REM might or at leat it is likely to be over by then and that is risky too.
If you stay in the dream you can also end up losing the lucidity and because of that you might not even be aware of the next awakening, so I usually wake myself up.
But it comes down to preference ^-^
True, I had a FA awakening last night, and it wouldn't have worked with that either.
Clarity, stability ∝ consciousness
You just need to keep practicing dream stabilization techniques. The more stable and vivid you make your lucid surroundings, the closer it will resemble a conscious waking world. Common sense really.
I think this has already been said, but let me repeat: you're just as "smart" in a dream as you are in waking life. Your consciousness and its logic functions are working just fine in a dream (as those who made their Einsteinian or artistic discoveries during dreams will confirm). What isn't working properly is memory.
The reason you assume "stupid" things or fail to notice obvious mistakes in your dreams is because your memory isn't fully switched on. In a dream, often including LD's, your world literally began just a few seconds earlier, and you lack the functional ability to attach past history to the plots unfolding before you. The reason why it's just fine for you to be having lunch with your dead grandparents on the moon during a dream is because your consciousness is unable to tap the memory circuits that would confirm that such an event is impossible. Indeed, just the opposite happens: since this dreamworld is your current reality, and there is no "history" to counter this reality, you tend to accept it unconditionally... and you can have a very complex and intelligent conversation with your grandparents in the process.
Strong lucidity solves this problem by definition, because your self-awareness has enough oomph to "switch" your memory back on (which is why those four implications Mastermind mentioned above are so important), and you can attach waking life history to what you are witnessing. You won't be any smarter when lucid, but you'll "know" a whole lot more.
tl;dr: It isn't about smartness, it's about memory.
If you are stupid in dreams, like for example; easily falling in traps in dreams, or easily defeated by another in dreams. This means you need to practise more in dreams to become aware and have more knowledge of your own dream world and what it has in it. You need to know your dreams fully and understand it. Dreams are a testing world for our subconsciousness and also our own selves and minds.
