Exclamation My latest and most annoying obstacle

Okay, this is probably the most frustrating thing ever for someone who loves space and really wants to explore it. For quite a while now (many months, possibly over a year) I've met a very annoying problem in my lucid dreams. Here's how it usually plays out:
Okay, so I'm lucid. I go outside and I start flying because frankly I love to fly. But wait! All of the sudden...
I HIT THE SKY. Yes, I HIT the freaking sky. One time I actually broke the sky and it was a backdrop made of wood (as if the "world" were a stage in itself which is actually metaphorically interesting).
So, yeah. I can no longer fly into the sky like I used to because it's apparently made of a wall. THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!
Please. I want to go to outer space but I'm PRETTY SURE it's up higher than the sky... So could anyone give me some advice on how to stop the sky from turning into a damn wall? I would much appreciate it.

Try to teleport directly to the space or go to the space in a starship, just be creative. What will mostly work is use some movie, book or game reference to go the space, for example if you ever watched the movie Zathura you can use the board game to go to the space

The wall is a mental barrier. Maybe because you know, there is no way you will get to space for real, or something similar. I think it's a same principle, why some people find it hard to fly (gravity). Try drawing a door, change the wall to cotton candy, or as the previous post suggest, use some space ship. Happy dreams

My response will sound very very strange, but I know what is going on. If you do not belive in mystical stuff, then ignore me. If you are open minded then the answer should get you really thinking.

I had the same problem, but it was always powerlines, or an invisible barrier. The power lines would shift and not let me through.

There are two types of LDs basically. First, those taking place 100% in your own head. Second, any type of dream that is taking place in an astral realm. Here is a link where I talk in detail about the subject, http://www.dreamviews.com/f19/findin...dreams-117725/. Just skim down until you see posts by me.

If you are under observation by a Dream Guide, and being considered for help, then you will be moved into a controlled enviroment. These 'enviroments' are actually limited in size. The edges can seem endless by being curved (like wandering in an endless circle), but when you try to go straight up, you run into the outer edge and can not move further (you can learn to get past the barriers, someday, but that is later). The nature of how your brain interprates the barier is going to be influanced by your own store of imagery. The thread I linked to will explain much more. You could also be accidently wandering into a confined space, but a Dream Guide is a more likely way of getting there.

These spaces are real physical place as far as the odd workings of astral realms go. They have general rules that dictate the nature of the experience, but what you see is all an attempt of your brain to inturprate something it does not yet understand.

So, there you go, Sivason's very odd explaination of why you keep hitting the sky.

P.S.: If it is a bummer finding yourself limited, just think of the amazing stuff a true astral D.G. will be able to teach you in the end. Well worth it. Be on your best behavior and learn to use your voice. "ASK" for help outloud.

@sivason: That's actually really interesting, but I have read much about Astral Travel and do not believe I am ready. I wish to keep my experiences for now within the dream realm of my own mind. But thank you for your reply. Also, I too have the same problem with those damned powerlines. I always get caught in them! That, and trees. But my God, the powerlines, they're EVERYWHERE!

Ok, that is a sound and reasonable discission on your part. Who knows how you gained the intrest of one of them, but they have alot to do and will not waste time where they are not wanted. You will not get hung up on trees or powerlines if the dream takes place in the normal 100% you setting, so it is an easy thing to fix.
This suggestion should solve your problem within a few days. Be sure you are commited to passing up this rare oppertunity. If you are, then try this:
As you drift off to sleep for the next 3 days repeat this in your head, with the feeling that you are talking to some one other than yourself. Feel as if they can and will hear your thoughts. "I just want to fly. I am not ready for more. I will call out if I become ready. Thank you."
I figure about three days of that and you will be left to do what you wish in the familiarity of your own head. Then the powerlines and barriers should no longer appear.

While solutions like teleporting and recreating your scene are novel and can be quite handy they shouldn't be used to circumvent your mental barrier, with enough focus and intent you should be able to pass through the sky because really nothing is stopping you and by trying to bypass it you are only assuring that this barrier is impenetrable. How about you try fly through the sky but imagine that it will liguify as you pass through it.
I know it's horrible and annoying advice but you have to train focusing in your dream, often when I do so myself it's kinda like "Aww shit this door is locked maybe I could think it open (try once then think) no this won't work"-What i have done is not actually focus but kinda just skim over it like when you do a half hearted reality check. You have to really place all focus on this door telling and believing that you it will click open the moment you touch it.
