My response will sound very very strange, but I know what is going on. If you do not belive in mystical stuff, then ignore me. If you are open minded then the answer should get you really thinking.
I had the same problem, but it was always powerlines, or an invisible barrier. The power lines would shift and not let me through.
There are two types of LDs basically. First, those taking place 100% in your own head. Second, any type of dream that is taking place in an astral realm. Here is a link where I talk in detail about the subject, http://www.dreamviews.com/f19/findin...dreams-117725/. Just skim down until you see posts by me.
If you are under observation by a Dream Guide, and being considered for help, then you will be moved into a controlled enviroment. These 'enviroments' are actually limited in size. The edges can seem endless by being curved (like wandering in an endless circle), but when you try to go straight up, you run into the outer edge and can not move further (you can learn to get past the barriers, someday, but that is later). The nature of how your brain interprates the barier is going to be influanced by your own store of imagery. The thread I linked to will explain much more. You could also be accidently wandering into a confined space, but a Dream Guide is a more likely way of getting there.
These spaces are real physical place as far as the odd workings of astral realms go. They have general rules that dictate the nature of the experience, but what you see is all an attempt of your brain to inturprate something it does not yet understand.
So, there you go, Sivason's very odd explaination of why you keep hitting the sky.
P.S.: If it is a bummer finding yourself limited, just think of the amazing stuff a true astral D.G. will be able to teach you in the end. Well worth it. Be on your best behavior and learn to use your voice. "ASK" for help outloud.
