Dream controll, the simple way.

I read a lot on dream controll on this forum, and realized that most people are really complicating it. So here is my ultra-simple tutorial to dream controll.

We are used to the limitations of the real word, so flying is hard to accept if we do not provide ourselves a reason to do it. This technique works like passive controll, but it's way more powerfull. In the passive controll technique, you provide an individual justification each time you want to controll something. In this technique you provide this simple justification "because I am dreaming" every time you want to have controll. It works because it makes sense this or that happen since you are in a dream. You have to expect it to happen and believe you can do it. Add some will power to the mix, shake well and after some time, you will start automatically doing it, giving you full controll over the dream!

If you have problems with that technique, it could be because:
• You don't firmly believe or you doubt it will work
Solution: prepair yourself for the next time you will try it. Believe that it will work, visualize yourself attaining your goal and having a great time.
• You think that doing this or that is impossible in a dream
Solution: think differently! You can really do anything in a dream!

If you have a problem that is different from theses, post it, we will solve it and add it to the help section!

IMPORTANT NOTE: When you success, eat a dream cookie of victory! It's free and you deserve it!

If it works for you then great. It really provides no mechanism for improvement if you do experience trouble despite knowing you are dreaming.

That is because the only thing stopping you is your unbelief. This site gives you many ways to deal with your unbelief, but this is more of a head on approach. Most people should know how to increase their own confidence without a tutorial, but a lot of them think that you need techniques for things, but techniques are just if you are struggling.

For instance: controlling fire is normally considered a harder LD thing to do, but I do it in almost every LD I have, because I love fire and know I can control it in dreams. Because of confidence.

also: I flew easily the first time I LDed, taking an entire car into the air with me and then jumping out. The next time I LDed I questioned my ability to fly and I failed at it. It only got worse after that until I tried visualizing myself flying throughout the day, now I know that I won't have any trouble with it. Confidence.

Every technique is just changing what you have confidence in. Some people have confidence in dream materials, so they need a broom, "Magic Pill", or fairy dust to fly, when all they really need to do is believe.

I personally have not ever used or suggested using dream objects to help, but it is a valid method. What I mean is that if someone lacks the confidence, then simply telling them 'be more confident' will be of little help, and actually will cause more frustration. I teach confidence building in steps. Think about waking life; if a child is afraid of dogs, simply saying "do not be afraid' will be of no help and will make the child feel worthless. Maybe giving them a small stuffed dog would be a good first step, then step two may be watching movies with cute talking dogs, and so on.

Yes, telling them to be more confident is a big thing I think. People don't try new things in dreams, because they think that they need a technique for it. When you only really need techniques when you lack the confidence. So instead of adding another technique to the mix, just try confidence first. Believe that you can do it, if you fail, then try a technique, but realize that it is your confidence that is lacking. It wasn't until I heard that some people fail at flying that I started failing at it.

I don't think that confidence and fear are the same thing.

Expectation and belief are not all there is to dream control.

They only play an ancillary role, as memory and focus are what's really important.

Normally, I'd back this up with something more substantial, but I already have in other places... What I've yet to see is an argument for why strong belief is the end-all-be-all of control.

Gosh, I wonder why that is? Could it be that such a notion is rooted in hearsay and rhetoric that no one bothers to seriously question?

Like sivason mentioned, if the best advice you can give someone who is having difficulty is: "Believe harder!" ... Then you really have no idea what's going on at a lower level. [my conclusion, not his]

To follow the vein of his example: who ultimately loses when an Psychology undergrad passes themselves off as a Therapist? The person that student is trying to help.

It's the same flawed argument that fails to address cases where expectation and belief were absolute, yet failure still occurred.
