Charisma spells Lesson 1: Bard songs

I am a Bard.

More then anything, that is my magic. It is quite easy. It is, I feel, one of the most evident and thriving magics that still exists in this culture besides necromancy and engineering. SO this, quite briefly, is an explanation of bardic magics.

warning: prz prz prz refrain from purposely manipulating others. The karma is soooo bad that it is not worth it!!! Idolitry will get you no where and only drain your oh so precious chrisma.

The first thing that each of us gets is a song. Not always sang, it is sometimes played or even spoken, or even written. Sometimes, a real quality bard will posess many different types of songs with many ways to perform them.

These are some of the spells that I use in daily life:

Sing- I sing everything from jazzbop to opera. Just imagine what happens when someone with a good voice and style sings in public...odd things happen. One may increase the whole room's charisma, their fighting abilities, even make them feel bad (necro bards exist too).

Play- I play a number of instruments. Piano, synthesizer, harp, drums (all sorts), even the guitar if I'm really high. Instruments, again can be used for many crowd effect spells.

Talk- Talk skill is prolly the most important. Manipulation is both rewarding and quite dangerous. A rogue bard may use charm talk on a merchant to rob them blind with a smile (my friend, not me). A merchant bard may use the same technique to sell items for a higher price. I use talk the most, to persuade -sometimes by disuade and later persuade- to get around. I never go hungry when i'm poor, I never find myself without a warm bed. I can talk skill my way into people's hearts. for me it is sacred, i do not lie to them, but i do not always tell them the entire story...most cannot handle my wisdom the same way.

Write- to date, now, I have emassed over 1000 pages of poetry. I am working on a book and type on here like a madman. Not to metion muds. I worked for a newspaper for a stint, a few times. I can pass any essay test in college. this skill is very useful, but perhaps the most in danger of my own egotism save for one other skill.

Act- and that is acting. I can be anything. I can pretend any life i have encountered, they all become parts of me, my rhetoric, my actions, and my perspectives which i hold on stage...but the world is your stage! i rarely fail job interviews. My charisma spells become overwhelming. ( my friend mercubio much acceeds me in this arena) but, i refuse to use my act skill most of the time now in favor of silence. I have found that a lot of times acting and manipulating, no matter to what ends, will cause bad karma. It takes rare purity to act and not have god smack you over the wrists for it!

The advantage to all of these spells, as you may have noticed, is that they're all area effect, they all effects groups if needed. It is quite amazing. Dangerous business, but nessesary. The bard is only as good as his group.

The bards songs provide many protection against allignment spells, all of which are incredibly helpful. I can easily talk to a police officer one moment and be friends with a meth cook all at once. My neutrality is invaluable at this point, it is the stake upon which i place my very life!

The most interesting thing I learned about my main class was how I could multiclass into other studies quite easily. Because all of my spells are charisma based, it is quite easy for me to use some minor sorcery (such as divination or very minor elementalism) but, this especially classed well with shamanism.

I took a few years in college and out to study plant lore. Combining psychadelic plants with chrisma spells means you have an unbending will while tripping. this is quite advantageous for it is how i got my skills in divination and mastered LUCID dreaming. So now, I learn how to combine plants for chrisma boosts so I can be a better bard! It all works so well together. My songs are much stronger now, my wisdom has greater potency. I became 7 times the bard I ever was. HAving your songs is one thing, having the widom to understand them is another. that's why so many comics and rock stars have used different drugs, to enhance their performance, chrisma bonuses.

SInce I'm talking about multiclassing, I must mention the necrobard. They are sorta my opposition, being a diviner shaman multiclass. The prime necrobards are our leaders here in america. They use bard songs to justify to a willing public (who doesn't want a bard song buff, right?) their chemical concoctions, their synthetic malstroms, their biochemical warfare, their oil driven machine of death magic.

I grew up with a ranger father, so i got a lot of that stuff, too. My allignment swings tword the forest, nature, the druids and such and thus the power of the necrobards' songs weaken me...
but i am still surviving, despite having to live in the machine, i'm still near my colorado mountains.

My spells are quite dangerous to a lot of those in power now. I am worried for what I will do with my life as a high level, i have to watch my back. More protection vs. my own government's allignment. ugh.

This was a very quick overview of hows songs and bardic magic works. I know each of the areas I outlined in depth if anyone wishes to discuss them. Sorry it's so brief. there is so much more! hopefully in the next couple of months i'll outline some shaman spells and some qualities of the modern necromancer (most of you are necros -self included- simply cause we live here and use the technology we use) in society.

and a final warning to those aspiring naive bards:
manipulation owns you! you never really control the other person's soul!

otherwise SING, sing every chance you get and help the earth
sing from your heart, not a desire to own others.

and finally, a little food for thought for those who still think that this is heretical 'magic' or a sin.

I dont consider myself a "class" which is to RPGish if you ask me, and most people dont know the true meaning of most "classes" as you call them because they think RPGish lol

Though if I must pick one I'd say druid..animals,nature,balance..thats my thing. Druid is not on the list, so gues I wont vote.., but I still dont think I put myself in one particular deity at all, not when it come to religion..faith..occultism..and so on. I have a bit of everything, buddism,new age, various occult believes..a bit of myself..and so on and so forth

But you know what I mean ^_^

merchants and rogues
are the same take away one, the other doesn't exist

clerics and necromancers,
in modern times, are all the same
the clerics forgot all their druid heritage and now primarily rely on synthetic medicaation processed with oil (the utmost death magic)
clerics no longer treat the patient -save for some chinese medicine and tribalism- they treat the illness, which only exists in the imagination!
we are people, not specific ailments. when one treats a part of a person instead of holistic medicine, they hurt them more.

Druids are not around anymore, they've almost been hunted down to extinction by modern globalization. Druids who use technology to get by are Rangers, due to their hybrid of skills and not primarily relying on nature.

If you are a Paladin let me know and I'll come group with you

but I want to see lay on hands first, hehe

most of us are bards, necroneers (egineers using necromancy) or merchant / rogues. Most of us are spread quite thin between all of these.

Im not sure what I am, I kinda stopped trying to define myself I am just Serinanth =) Mebby you can help me what might you think my class is?

I work with light, using crystals, ley lines and passion I can enchant objects.

A swordsman and guardian willing to give my life for those I love, but if it really came down to it, I would probably refuse to leave regardless of my physical health and continue living so I can continue to protect.

More at home in the woods than in a city, able to find my way without maps, hehe throw me in a city though and I walk in circles.

I also use technology to create magical objects, blending elements of modern science and crystals.

In the dreaming, I have a dragon form, and have been known to show up and help people in a pinch when they call for me.

Hmm. Lets see...Crystalism + engineering (technology) + enchantment.
and ley lines (?) and passion.

Because passion evokes your magic, I'm gonna say you're a Sorcerer, because passion and charisma are practically the same method of conjuration. Also, because I know your imagination and 'song' are strong. A sorcerer is like a wizard who, instead of studying for hundreds of years, like in Tolkien, uses their own WILL to use magic.

If you can use a sword you are multiclassed, likes a fighter mage. And being willing to give your life and your lover for other ppl, that speaks of your allignment (which I haven't talked about yet) which leans twords neutral good somewhere.

Dragon form is way more interesting however...you'll have to talk to someone way more skilled in lore then I to understand that one, hehe.
I appear as a shapeless changing spirit, I think...very few people ever recognise me when I'm in their dreams

but I'm not sure that that's a nessecerily bad thing. Dragons Rock though! Mebe I'll call on you some time, hehe. Maybe I could show you some of my dreams, that'd be coo.

hmm. not much to go on, but that may be the answer. Warm, peaceful. Most of your chat reflects this as well. No magic...hmm. I think not having magic is your magic. I think you'd be considered a monk.
You seem to take life as it is without giving in to many desires, I respect that. It is my hubris as a bard, however, to indulge EVERY desire and then leave it behind (to be a good one, anyways) so we are much alike in that respect. Yeah, I think a peaceful monk suits you well.

hehe, this is fun! I know a lot of people don't believe in the 'classes' anymore...and I really don't either, life is skill based and we all contain a little from every class, a bard being spread most thin yet containing a bit of all them (i think that's why i see it). BUT, the classes are fun to talk about cause you CAN still find them in everyone. Most ppl are mechant / rogues now adays (sadness

) but i think things are all good, despite the overclassing of the world with the global economy

if the apocalypse comes, and it leaves some of us alive...say a giant emp goes off and mutes all technology, frys all the microprocessors, i wanna group and explore the world.

if anything like that happens, you guys wanna group up and explore with me? I'd keep the group entertained! Hehe, I know likes a million songs and stories and jokes. Plus since I'm bardic all my magic is charisma. Me and Serinanth could prolly make HUGE spells, lol.

hehehehehe, just an amusing thought I had, picturing all of our little Avatars exploring the world. sorta like a side-scrolling rpg in my imagination. It is kinda odd to get to know people this well through words and avatars alone, no?

Me..I dont use true magic..like I told you. My magic comes from the heart,from the soul itself. The only other energy I slightly manipulate is use is chi, which comes from me aswell, but then all is energy. We are energy.

I am playful and childlike. I am over compasionate and too nice for my own good sometimes. I have a strong sense of honor and justice and am very idealistic.

I love nature and animals, I love being there, the further away from society the better.

I only fight when I must, to defend what I stand for or to protect my loved ones. Sadly thats more then I want it to be. In a sense I am a protector.
But when I fight I am the holy avenger.

I am a teacher and a mentor and wish to teach others and learn them. I am a morpheus, not a neo.

I believe in guidance from spirits and greater forces strongly.

And last, my dream form is that of a young teen boy, with the ability to become and adult only when nessasary, I love to communicate with astral being aswell.

What you think lol, a little bit of everything lol. Just wanna knwo what you would call me, perhaps still a ranger, but nature isnt my only thing..^_^

what am I? i am rarely saddened or depressed because i choose not to be, i use no magic either...i dont believe i am charisma based...but people say they are drawn to me for my strength (will not physical)...i also am able to learn any ability i choose to learn in a respectively shorter time than most people...very competitive by nature, i cannot stand to lose...i am very in tune with computers/technology

hehehe, you're easy. I could definetly see you thousands of years ago as a wandering monk mentor, going from village to village teaching people about nature and only coming into contact with towns when they came along your way. Teaching both practical lessons and teaching in depth meditation, talkin bout spiritual guidence not only as a philosophy, but as energy. You and Seeker have much in common methinks.

of course, when I say Monk I give no denomination. so no worries bout sex. heh heh heh.

hmmm, I don't know you as well, but I'm guessing engineer. you aren't charisma based, so that narrows you to intelligence as opposed to wisdom based, also cause you learn fast.

since we're talkin bout bards I need to go more in-depth into "multi-classing"

the classes do not exist, they merely appear to.
in truth, a trillion abilities exist and some choose to hone specific ones
thus the illusion of class

so, here is my Multiclass analysis of self
Bards, afterall, must contain a little bit of every class they wish to be associated with in order to mediate conflicting group members and channel their energies.

Bard :

Shaman
This does not mean I take a load of drugs...well, I do, but I have a reason and perform ritual ceremonies, that's the big difference. Drugs are not a means to get high, but rather a way to accelerate my meditation, whatever form that might be, as I meditate in many ways now. Don't blow it off! All food is drug, all drugs are food. As a child I was given tons of dyphenhydramine (benedryl or Datura), Dextromothorphan (robo), Codeine, Lodine, etc., so I was trippin balls and just thought (as my parents did) that I was crazy some how. but now I guess I synthesize hallucinogens better for it. I at least realize it and am particularly sensitive to it. I smoke bud everyday but I rarely drink a soda or eat loads of meat. It's nice, in school I suffered depression, ocd, anxiety attacks, narcalepsy, insomnia, and got sick a ton...now I'm always healthy, the meditation of the 'bong rip' is really doing wonders for my lung capacity as a singer, and I conquered all my fears. Shamanism played a vital role in my life, all my life, and I will smoke herbs till my last days.

Diviner
This came from combining Monk and Shaman, now I can meditate and dream and control all aspects...neat combo, wasn't expecting it to happen. Now I can get high just by THINKING. Soon I hope to be able to transcendentally meditate in a manner of minutes...i can do that on high, not sober. I can't take my visions seriously and warn any who do. I just gained the spell "Clairity" over the last year, and it is a tempting, sinful spell; seeing what one is capable of is awesome power, seeing one's future even more so, having the power to not act on these visions is true wisdom...and I am most fortunate to know that. Clairity will give power to man, but only by first rendering him powerless. I do not believe in using my ability for anything. It occurs when it occurs. I do not go into other people's minds unless I am taken their, I allow myself no thought, no ego.

Monk
I'm Taoist. Peaceful, serene and enjoy walking and walking and talkin to strangers and homeless people. My neutrality means I can cross all lines. I've slept of drug dealers floors, entertained murderers (and slept next to them as well, I found out), I've had lunch with priests, I've mingled with officials...they're all the same, really. This neutrality also allows me to divinate fearless, full of personal will, empty of ambition and ego. The way of the Monk is my role model for life. The meek inherit the earth cause their lazy, hehehe.

Merchant/Rogue
i've worked most of my life as have most of you. we're forced into this multiclass by consumerism...sucks, don't it?

Fighter
i'm such a sissy. i played soccer for a good while, college a bit, but nothing big. I'm getting out of shape and trading for wisdom, lol.

Necromancer-egineer:
i hate to admit it, but i live in a 'capitalist consumer' society of black magic users who are destroying the planet. i feel the dark magic surging through me everytime i use technology. I've had many visions of the blood consumed, of the death living in objects, this place is scary when you're able to see the growth and decay paralelled at the same time. our streets are paved with the blood of many animals, our skyscrapers consumed much life. these so called synthetic materials we see CAME FROM NATURE. nature will reclaim them, as she does all immpermanent things of this world. i want to move out of america. i want to leave and give up inst3ead of attempting to change the materialist rhetoric of dark magic into the ecological beauty of nature magic, which mine and many others' powers are fading with. I'm lucky to be crossbreed in that respect, but I wood have prefered a forest this life...ya know?

I think I'm a Ranger with fighter tendencies. I'm not sure exactly what my dreamform is; I can only remember one dream where I got a detailed view of what I look like. I was slightly elven and looked a lot like Link (see my avatar for the LoZ challenged ;p). I still have a lot to discover about myself in the dreamworld.
