Im trying to grasp the concept of summoning....I just believe that I can do ANYTHING in this dream world. I have a lot of confidence with me, so I just try it...I mumble some incantion just like those magic games....and do some hand movements....What kind of portal are you trying to summon??
expectation and belief are the key. there are also different ways in which you can summon things. you have to trulyt believe that it will be there. It usually wont just appear in front of your eyes so just be like "i want so-and-so to be there when i turn around" mean it and then turn around in expecting to see him/her/it.
As for the portal thing. Mirrors are excellent tools for portals. Just concentrate on where you want to go and go through it. I warn you though, you could loose lucidity once you transition over
On my second lucid experience (and last) I tried to summon.. a .. girl...didn't work.. but I managed to wake up saying to myself "when I close my eyes and open them I will wake up" it worked.
I was going to pull the exact quote from "exploring the world of lucid dreams" but I'm lazy and it's upstairs... "If you don't believe you can do it, you can't."
You also have to genuinely want what you are trying to summon. It takes awhile sometimes, don't give up. You may try for potato chips and get a potato, or a plastic shopping bag.
I almost always need to try at least twice to get what I want right. The other night..I wanted some guys, I got triangles, then blobs, then women (that wasn't right!), then finally 3 handsome guys :D
But that was different than say genuinely wanting something. I just moved and unfortunately didn't get to say goodbye to a few of my close friends. In my dream I was walking down a road and wished I would see my friend driving his car, and almost immediately he pulled up beside me with two of my friends riding in the back seat (odd, no one was sitting shotgun.)
The only techniuqe(sp?) i've tried is just saying that i want it, as in my recent dream: Give me a clock, and it appeared in front of my eyes.
It wasn't a clock, though, but it was really beautiful.
focus on a small area then look at another direction.
then focus on the object you try to create, then look back on that area and there it should be..
simple :P thats how I do it.. works for me
My technique is similair, about how you look away but i just look at the area close my eyes and then visulize that area with that objects and look back, but somtimes when i have gone to close my eyes I woke up, so it may destroy it, but usally just thinking you are GOD usally works
I just look at the area, then envision the object there. Seems to just pop up there from another dimension, or something, as if it's always been there. Just fades into view.
I use fog. Summon some mist or haze, then imagine it fading away to reveal whatever/whoever you want to summon.
The general idea of all these methods is to summon said object/person without having to directly observe it. Directly observing something while you summon it is hard because it goes against the logic of our brains. But if we expect something to be there when we turn around or when the fog fades, etc, the mind can cope with it easier.
Sometimes, you need the theatrics to get it going. Like when Leo told me the best way to fly is to have a magic carpet.
My way of summoning was very plain, just hoping to see a certain someone around the corner, and it happens half the time.
being a man of my time I like to take my skills from video games, and then I use some kinda summon spell like in diablo. Just a flash of light and then the person is there. It's not so hard to visualize a person appearing because ive done it a million times while playing video games.
try this one. think about the object, look away, say the objects name, and look back. that seems to work for me.
just thinking of a person worked for me, but you have to concentrate really hard
Thats really hard 2 do in an LD, summoning things is kinda like controlling DC i think. mainly because i find it hard 2 control the enviroment as well... u will most likely have 2 find ur own technique or just keep practicing.Quote:

I like asking DCs to provide me with what I need. A DC can have anything in his pocket, remember that.
Crap, you just got an old Animaniacs song stuck in my head >_<

I've had somewhat success with getting things in my dreams I want.
Like in one of my dreams, me and my cousin where playin around with some P90's, shooting at eachother in the front yard.
I ran out of one clip, and without even thinking about, I just reached my hand behind me and pulled spare one out of my back pocket.
The reason that worked (I think), is because I just knew it would be there, I didn't have to question whether or not it would be.

So next time you want to summon an object, just as soon as you think about the object you want, reach behind you and make the motion like your grabbing at it, and just know that you grabbed it.When you bring your hand back in front of you, chances are it will be there.
When Summoning People, try going to a house, and telling yourself "When I open this door, _____ will be inside the room on the other side.", and really believe it.
That seems to have about a 75% success rate with me.
Yeah thats true. I have noticed somethings are easier to summon though. It's usually the things I am scared of though.
I have found that summoning objecft, portals, people, even cities into existance.... actually, anything at all in a lucid dream can usually be controlled through assumption. If you assume something is going to happen it will, it's that simple. Instead of thinking about summoning something just assume that it will be there or assume that an action will result in the creation of an object.
I think assumptions are more "knowing" than "believing", seems to work better for me. Might work better for you as well.
It's because, literally, summoning is based on your trust that you will find something there. Your subconscious isn't there the same way it is in real life, so believing something makes it true. This works with fear because when you are afraid of something, you worry that it will be there when you turn around. You're worried that it will be there, and that creates a doubt that it won't be there, causing it TO be there. Wow, totally lost myself there. Hope you get the point...
I assume you are trying to get to other dreaming realms. This is not hard, but one must have gained some control over the usual things in dreaming that cause one to wake up: fear, noise, surprise, excitement, and so on. If you can maintain your awareness in the dream through these types of things (and its a matter of repetition and practice. There are numerous methods to do this) then you can enter other realms. I warn you that the methods and things you are used to using may not work when you get there! Here it is: when you want to rise to a higher area, simply attach your attention on an object or point in the dreamscape. Then, WHILE HOLDING YOUR FOCUS ON THE OBJECT, COMMAND YOURSELF TO "AWAKEN". If you haven't mastered the method of staying in dreaming, you will simply wake up in the bed. However, if you can hold your perception there, you will immediately transition to a finer realm. The transition will seem strange. I wont try to describe it here.
A simpler method is to fly over the dream landscape looking for a "hole" and try to fly through it. Not as easy as it sounds.
Good luck!

generally you need to "refresh" the scene you are in. This is why people say they need to use a fog, walk around a corner or open a door, etc. "Refreshing" the scene, much like on a computer is the key for most people.
Hehe, you just gave me the idea of screaming 'F5!' in your dream... rofl
hahah i wish it were that easy for me, i still have a lot of learning to do before then lol.
