(help on controlling my dreams) random/scary images flashing in my mind

Hi its been a long time since i was last on this website its good to be back.
ok ill get straight into it.
sometimes when im having a bad dream <---(note) not a nightmare} i cant seem to control the dream like im scared and at the same time not scared. its hard to explain you see for example when i have these types of dreams im in control at the start of it its all (la de da) all happy calm then wierd mind flashes happen all scary/horror looking memories and other weird things that arnt a memory ive ever had start to flash before me i start to see things and when i try to take control of my dream it seems that my control is fading and i cant stop these flashes these DAM annoying images/moving images/videos things i havent seen before start to play in my mind or somtimes random things to that arnt scary like just random things. Things i dont even think about or care about start to flash before me and i feel the control i once had over my dream is fading i even try to change the dream for example ill try and imagine my self somewhere else doing something with maybe someone or some people but when i try to do that it gets worse.
They start to change i start seeing more weird scary/random images they just dont go away and they all have sound its like listening to 100 different tv shows/adds/videos at once and it drives me insane it angers me to the point of strangling these dam images and watching them slowley die but i cant even do that i love all control of the dream.
And then after a few minutes ill blank out just fall asleep and remember nothing after that like after the images have finished flashing it all goes black and i hate that cause i want to remember my dreams and i hate it when this happens. so please anyone give me your advice and guide me to salvation and a better understanding of this.

Perhaps, next time you find yourself in a lucid dream, you could first use a couple stabilization/clarity techniques (here, you should pick two or three that would be easy for you to remember/do in your dreams). After that, set a goal and stay focused on getting it done. :) That way, you'll be first taking control of your dream (with the stabilization techniques), and then keeping the control (by staying focused on a goal).

I agree completely with LucasPotter. You proposed some very good advice, during a lucid dream that sort of a force within your mind to set the dream into a direction will definitely help suppress the images that you are not quite fond of. However, i do believe that you are creating them to a greater scale because you are scared of seeing them. Yet.. seeing something is intriguing so your mind works extra hard to produce them, thus, your loosing control of your dream to these.. Images and sounds. So, I propose to you something that may/may not help, but its worth a shot. Meditation; becoming completely secure with your mind or clearing it and thinking 'Happy Thoughts' before you are to go to sleep, just to set your mind at ease. Anyhow, I hope your active and get a chance to read this stuff so we can help!

Embrace the fear and let it carry you away. One reason your mind is shutting down could be because it's too stressful for you to deal with. To counteract the stress, find something to relax your mind. Learn to love the frightening images, associate them with something pleasant.

Hello pal, you posted some time ago about dreaming of lots of random images flashing into your face, very fast & the more you tried to re-direct it, the worse it would get. well i used to have dreams exactly the same when i was younger (bout aged 12 up to 18ish??) except instead of images it would just be shapes, was very uncomfortable.. anyway, long story short, i had one again the other day. First time in 10+ years, ive tried looking online about it & basically found your comment.. you know any more on it since you posted?? Cheers
