Can't I make things brighter while in my dream? :l

I attempted another WILD last night, after my alarm went off and went to pee. lol.
This one had been successful. Finally. My last WILD was April 16.

My trick to relaxation was listening to my airconditioner's "buzzing" sound. Few minutes later, I went through the usual weird sensation of suddenly hearing noises that was not supposed to be there and my body feeling strong vibrations, which was an indication to me that I was transitioning. After that stopped, my dream eyes opened and I found myself back in my room. I did two reality checks; I covered my nose and tried to breathe. After that I tried to float up from my bed and I did. (both were successful indication that I was dreaming, since I could breath and float xD)
Then I went on my business with making my dreams.

I came across a problem though.

I COULDN'T make things brighter. It was a little dim in the dream world. I even tried to make the sun rise (for some reason when I wild, the setting is always dawn/dusk in the dream world), but it just didn't happen. I conjured and stared at a yellow bulb that was emitting weak light, and wanted to make it really bright but it just stayed the same.

Troubleshooting didn't last long because a dream character showed up and started to chase me. LOL. I yelled for her to stop and to tell her get out of my dream because Im busy, but when I yelled, I ALSO made noise in reality, waking me up instantly. (I have a history of sleep-walking, sleep-talking and sleep-punching (xD) according to my parents)

Are there any of you guys that can make things brighter in the dream?

You could try summoning a torch, or teleporting to a brighter place.

Really, though, don't let the dimness bother you too much - it'll end up sucking away all your time you could've spent doing something else.

You could also make the sun rise, or you could create a ball of light in your hands. Like DreamscapeGoat said, don't get too bothered about it and remember that expectation is key in the dream world.

I have this problem too, sometimes. Once I got the sun to rise, and that was nice. Have you tried light switches?
Although possibly if you just focus more on other dream sensations, the problem will solve itself. Sometimes when I WILD the dream starts out completely black. I'll fumble around for a short while, but if I keep going, touching things and focusing on that sensations, my vision will clear up.

Thanks for the replies! The dim lighting bothered me here; on my first lucid dreams it didn't because I was too excited that I was lucid dreaming. But now I guess I'm trying to look for perfection and absolute clarity xD

Also I have another question; Are there specific list of things we should avoid or not do while in the dream so to avoid waking up by accident? Like when I tried to yell at the dream character, I ended up activating my "real" vocal cords, waking me up. x3

You can do anything in a dream - as mentioned by AstralMango, everything is based on expectation. For the first few lucids, things will fade off quickly - you just have to be persistent and have the expectation that the dream will not fade away after doing a certain action.
