      Short Lucid This Previous Morning

      So this morning I had my first lucid in probably about 6 months.

      Once I realized I was dreaming, I yelled at the girl I was walking with that I wanted to "F*** her in the a**!" and then after a quick back and forth, woke up to real life.

      It's a pretty thin line between dreaming and being awake, I feel like. If you invest too much thought into the dream you will get sucked in and lose lucidity, and if you don't focus at all you become fully aware that you're awake and actually wake up because you can sense both states.

      How do I get past this? I might not have another lucid dream for sometime, but I want to have this knowledge for the next one.

      In my experience being more aware in a dream does not make it any shorter than a less lucid dream... In fact my best and longest lucid dreams were the ones in which I was most aware.
      Did you try to stabilize the dream, maybe ?
      Other than that it comes with experience, really. You have to learn to manage your excitement.

      One advice, keep trying. You need to reach a state where you can deliberately avoid getting back to reality when you feel like waking. You need to be able to command your mind that "The dream world is the reality now!".
