      How to summon a DC?

I've looked over similar threads and tried a few techniques to summon DCs in an LD but was unsuccessful. I tried:

-closing my eyes, imagining the DC standing there, then opening eyes
      -yelling the DC's name
-reaching hand behind back and saying, "___ take my hand"

None of these are working! I've tried 5-10 times in the last year. What am I doing wrong? What techniques do you use to summon?

I use a variation of the hand technique, but I don't usually call out anyone, I just convince myself that the person I what to see will take my hand, and I wait for them to take it; I wait to feel their hand in my before pulling or turning around. I When faced with a crowd, I call out the DC I want because I'm convinced that they are here.

I guess that, if using technique that are to far away from reality, it doesn't work for you, you could first try to summon your DC with things that are closer to reality: call them over through a phone, go to another room while being sure that they will be there, go inside a house where they are, that kind of things. Or summon them using something you do all the time in dream; I saw in your DJ that you can fly; tell yourself that your DC is flying too, and join them in the sky!

Maybe I'm just not convinced enough that they'll show up. Maybe it takes more practice? Although in the first ever LD I ever had I was able to summon a celebrity, haha. Weird that I can't do it now, even after using so many different techniques.

      I'll definitely keep trying though!

Maybe try opening a door to a room and expect them to be inside. Or turn around, expect them to appear behind you, then turn back around

I think the point is to really imagine the person you want to see and EXPECT it to be there. i tried most of the times the around the corner technique and it worked most of the time. in a crowed shouting ones name and look around and turn around till you see the person worked too.
i once tried the hand behind my back technique and i felt that someone is holding my hand but woke up before i could turn around and see if it is the right one.

so again i think everything rise and fall with the expectation that the person is really there no matter what technique you use. try really to imagine that the person you want to see is there. tell your self some lame reason why it should be like that (in my experience you dont need a sophisticated explanation why something you want to summon is behind you on the ground or in you pocket. an easy ah yeah i lost it there or i put it there some time ago will do). like: oh yea i expect xy to be in the next room because we wanted to meet there and then look slowly with a lot of excitement and expectation into the room like a small child would do probably when you would tell him santa clause is in the next room. they wouldnt doubt it and really belief that he is there. with this mindset you get what you want. i am sure!

Thanks, I'll definitely try that! I think I get too impatient and give up right away. I have to just expect the person to be there. Next time I try to summon, I will post my results

Well... If plain old expectation doesn't work for you (most techniques are a form of expectation, or at least tampering with your expectation), you can use some of the techniques from here:
      http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-cont...esson-1-a.html

One of the things I like to do is still expectation, but instead of trying to expect them to be somewhere random in a dream world, which can be hard with no prior experience (expectation is based on experience), but go to a place that you have seen them before. This is why I consider teleporting to be one of the most useful form of dream control. You can fly there too, but that takes a lot more time. Or just call them on the phone and tell them to meet you where you are.

You could use any of the methods you described, or anything else. What your problem (Most likely) is, is you probably don't truly expect it to happen. If you don't expect it to, and/or, if you expect that it won't happen, then it most likely won't.

I tried again to summon last night and it failed.. again. I "expected" a DC to be around a corner, I told myself that she would be standing there, and she wasn't there. I also shouted her name.. nothing. So frustrating :/

I can't teleport to her because I have no idea where she'd be(and I was already in the place where I'd first met her in a dream), and I don't have much practice teleporting.

You don't need to know the location. Let "the dream" do that for you. Just command the dream "bring me to xy" and use your favourite location switch technique like spinning.

If this isn't a person you know irl it can definitely be tricky "expecting" them into your dream. Like Sensei says, expectation is based on experience and if you don't have the experience you have a problem.

You could try writing a letter to this DC in waking life, asking him/her to meet you in your next lucid in a specific place. Send the letter down a river, burn it, bury it, whatever you have to do to symbolically send it (In a responsible safe manner)

By doing this (or anything like it, if you think of something) you create actual real world expectation that you can then draw from in your next lucid.

      Good luck!

Think past the summoning part and ahead to what you plan to do next, after the person is there. If you plan to ask them a question or give them an instruction, put more emphasis on that. Or maybe you plan to slap them in the face. It's like acting in a play. Instead of waiting for the other character to enter, you should be thinking about your reaction to their entrance, or next movement, or next line. If you don't have such a specific plan in mind, you can always focus on sensory detail. For example, replace the mindset of "How do I summon X?" with "After I summon X, I wonder what color shirt he will be wearing."

As for technique, I say or think: "Where is ____?" But my intent is more of a command or demand than a question. Then I look toward which ever part of the scene where a person would logically enter. Often from a door, or the horizon, or behind me. Or if I'm moving, then I will find them waiting for me in the next room or around a corner. But I think it's more important that the summoning be part of a flow of action that is appropriate to the scene, rather than as an isolated magic trick.
I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.

The "Person X is just around the corner" technique works for me - partially at least, since there will always be a person there, but not necessarily the desired one (most of the times a complete stranger appears).

One thing I would like to try (but despite many LD's I still haven't gotten around to it) is to pro-actively project the person (or thing, or whatever) right out of my hands - in a blazing display of light and sheer magic.

That might actually work well, since it would not be a request for the person to appear - but instead an actual command for it to happen. And that is something very different.

This really strikes me as being a good approach.

So ... is this the real universe, or is it just a preliminary study?

      I will!

I haven't been having many LDs lately though because I haven't been sleeping very well. I'll for sure post in here next time I try to summon.

Last time when I tried it, I was near my school. When I checked corner I saw Chuck Norris, he was looking for his son. It was weird.
