Maintaining a friendship with a DC?

      Hey there,

So for some backstory, I am a cartoon and animation nut. My job also revolves around social media as well as writing, creating and technical production of cartoons & animation. I love the idea of Lucid Dreaming and also decided it might be able to help me with what I want to do in life.

I've talked briefly about this with other members and have been told it's possible but figured I'd seek out some tips.

The main thing I want to do is be able to explore the characterisation of a bunch of different characters (and even insert my own into the mix), and while doing so, I want to maintain some form of ongoing "friendship" with each character. Obviously this is just essentially befriending myself, but I thought it would be a great way to explore mannerisms. Plus, hell, who doesn't wanna meet their favourite cartoon character?

That is the thing I'd like to do above all else, but it would also be amazing to me if I could do so while in the cartoon characters world.

An example, perhaps would be a good way of explaining myself.

My avatar is from Zootopia so lets use that. Say I wanted to explore the character of Nick Wilde (for those who haven't seen the movie, essentially a con artist), and find a way to see that kind of character in a different light. If I wanted to essentially place myself in the world of Zootopia (modeled after the show), would it then be theoretically possible to (and would you have any tips in order to) maintain some form of friendship with Nick, across multiple lucid dreams. That way whenever I choose to go to the Zootopia world, I can summon Nick and then proceed through some situation in order to grasp how such a character would behave.

It's pretty much as close as an animator can get to plucking cartoons off the screen and watching them interact with the world.

      Thanks for your time!

      Mat

      Yeah, this is doable.

I've met a couple of my OC's in dreams a couple of times, and dreamed of being in various Animes/Cartoons that I liked. (Avatar seems to happen a lot.) I've never done it intentionally while lucid, as the idea doesn't interest me as much as living in an original dream world of my own creation, so I don't do it.

I do sometimes find that the characterizations are wrong or that the plot deviates from the plot. If you're lucid, then you might have the influence to correct this. (For example, I once dreamed that I was semi lucid, and I was eating dinner at a restaurant with all the characters from Avatar. Though they were all 'Modernized' wearing clothing that fit with modern days and they had phones and stuff. Aang was also eating meat. )

A good way to go about it might be to watch some episodes whatever cartoon you want to enter before bed. (But not stay up too late or get too distracted.) Obviously pick episodes that reflect what you want to do. Going on the Avatar Example once more, if I wanted to Meet Toph, I could watch 'The Blind Bandit'. While your watching try to focus on becoming lucid and what might happen, how you might interact with the plot.

It's just a suggestion, I haven't tried it intentionally. But it should work.

Thank you so much for the response Jade, that makes me feel awesome.

Being on this forum and hearing from awesome people like you has made me feel a lot more confident in my goals. I think it's good that I have revisited lucid dream and have goals this time, it feels really good to be working toward something instead of just winging it, even if the journey will be difficult.

I loved your weird Avatar dream haha, certainly sounds like something that would be interesting at the very least. I actually had a non-lucid with two of the characters I want to eventually befriend, and we talked like normal so that is also encouraging.

I do like your suggestion, thank you, I think maybe associating these worlds with the idea of lucidity will help the summoning/creation to be a little bit more fluid, if I understand what you're saying .
