      My first real dream control!

Usually in my dreams I have a problem of dream characters running away from me, and I am far to slow to catch up to them. This is a probelm in both my lucid and non-lucid dreams. I think it has something to do with the fact that my greatest fear is to be left behind.

So, after I became lucid (in only my 3rd lucid dream) I decided I would talk to a dream charachter and try to mess with them a bit. Immediatley as I began walking towards them they started to run away and I had no means of catching up to them. (I have the common problem of not being able to run in my dreams)

Being lucid, I found this quite annoying, and I tried verbally telling the person to stop, but this only made them run faster. So, I decided to try something different.

I imagined two pylons appearing out of the ground in front of the dream charachter, and between the pylons appeared a shimmering blue forcefield. I was utterly amazed when this actually happened, and the dream charachter was stopped in her tracks.

I took my time and walked slowly over to the dream charachter and began to have a conversation with them.

I was really excited, because this was my first form of dream control, and I could use it to stop my greatest fears from happening within the dreams. I immediatley began using this forcefield method for a number of other things. Usually I would use it to stop dream charachters, but I also used moving forcefields to move heavy objects and to bring dream charachters closer to me.

      It worked every time!

I am so glad that I have found an effective method of dream control.

On another note, I tried flying in my dream, but all I could manage was a jump of about 20 feet. And then, using the same logic as the forcefield, I decided that I would take a magic pill which would make me fly.

this pill didn't fully work, but it increased my jump to several hundred feet...but I ended up not going any farther because as I flew my dream began to fade, so I came back down.

I'm just glad to have a bit more control over my dreams. I would suggest using forcefields to anyone who is having trouble stopping objects or dream characters from running away from them, or for moving things.

Are there any other ideas that would help me do things? For instance, I want to be able to transform myself into another form, but nothing I do seems to work. Should I take a pill in my dream for this too? And I would also like to fly without my dream fading. I use the "stare at your palm" teqnique to help extensively with maintaining a vivid dream, but I'm not sure what to do while in flight.

      thanks

When I fly too high up or for too long, my dream fades too. What I do is land and either spin on the spot like a child or rapidly shake my head from side to side.

The best advice I can give is probably the hardest. Take things s-l-o-w!
I know it's really hard at the beginning not to try do impossible feats like flying, transportation, dream control etc. But this usually leads to excitement and too much excitement simply wakes you up.
To be honest it is much more useful to start off with something simple. When you become lucid don't get too excited, just sit on the dream floor and look around, listen, smell, touch. In other words just appreciate the dreamscape. If there are characters there don't try talk to them, just look at the ammount of detail in their faces or look at what they are wearing. Resist the urge to try flying etc. Simply sit and repeat i'm dreaming to yourself.
Set a plan to make simple tests in your next lucid dream, do them one at a time and record your results.
I once spent an entire LD sat in my room touching the cupboards, floor, walls etc hell I even licked the carpet to test the realism It was such an invaluable experience and it allows you to fully appreciate your dreams. I know this sounds boring and it doesn't take full advantage of the world you find yourself in (e.g. you can do ANYTHING right?)
but you will find that each small step you take leads closer to the more impossible scenarios, and you will appreciate the experiences so much more.

I'll give you 2 examples of my dreams.

      1. "I am waking through town when I decide to RC. I realise i'm dreaming and decide I want to fly into space. I run and jump into the air, as I head towards the clouds the dream fades and I wake up"

      2. "I am standing on top of a house and can't figure out why i'm there. I RC and realise i'm dreaming, and say to myself 'Ok. Chill out and relax this is a dream' I sit down on the floor and look around. To my left I can see an ocean surrounded by mountains. There is a small village to my right - it reminds me of Italy. I look at my hands and notice the creases. As I am sitting I can feel the warmth of the sun on my neck. I can't believe how incredibly real everything is. I decide to stand up and walk around. I approach a door and walk inside. I find myself at my house. There are various DCs in my living room. I stand and watch what is going on but don't become involved"

As you can see the dream where I become excited and try to perform an impossible task lasts only a few seconds. Once you become used to your dreams you can do anything you want without fear of premature awakening.
      Hope this helps.
      Are you dreaming or awake?

Oh, I see what you mean! That sounds like a good idea. Usually I spend about 15 seconds looking around, staring at my palms and taking in the realism, but after that I get very excited and want to explore. I will try to be more reserved.

What if they talk to you?
