Spinning doesnt work...
Every time when a dream starts to fade or go black and I try spinning, I still wake up. The only time spinning worked somewhat I started to lose the dream, then started spinning and the color came back, but when I stopped spinning I woke up. Is there anything I can do to make spinning work? Are there any other techniques of prolonging a dream?

Try rubbing your hands together, or touching something like the ground or the wall. The sensation of touch can help to solidify the dream, and allow you to hold onto it. This usually works for me better than spinning does.

Try looking at your hands and notice the fine detail. Because you focus on a very specific thing, rather than letting dream imagery flow uncontrollably, you can regain control of the dream. There may times, of course, where nothing willl work because there is an external stimulus that is drawing you out of your dream.

Interaction, interaction, interactoin -- pretty much what the above posters said. If you can see it, touch it. If you can hear it, find it and focus your attention to it. If its something you can smell, taste it (unless it's someone's dirty underwear :barf:).
Point is to keep your mind busy with experiencing the things in the dream - and not let it wander off and pull things out of your subconsious at a rate that you can't keep up with. Basically, relax and take the experience in.

pretend you have vertigo, just focus on objects close by to maintain control

I dont know how it is for other people, but my LDs end very abruptly... Pretty much I'm doing something and BAM! gone...
I prolong my dreams by reentering them at the last scene of the faded dream or a location that is very familiar to me and also is my dream sign.
To reenter a dream you just woke up from, you should immidiately upon waking up focus on the last scene of the faded dream and just keep it's image in your mind's eye... Pick a position in the scene where you would reappear and stop all motion in the scene...
Reentering dreams is sometimes tricky, so it's nice to have a specific location that you may use as a reentry point... I use one of 2 classrooms that I had a lot of classes in. Pretty much a dream fades, I imagine that classroom, pick a seat and within a minute I'm lucid in that dream...
