Trouble getting out of my house!!

So, today after school I was pretty tired (finals week, ugghh) and decided to take a nap and practice up on some rusty WILDing. I was pleasantly surprised when my wild happened right away. However, as has happened in the past numerous times I almost ALWAYS end up in my room. Well, since I spend a lot of my waking time and ALL of my sleeping time in my room, I naturally don't want to spend my LD time there! I tried shooting through the ceiling of my room, to blast to some other "cool" location. It didn't work. I hit my head on the ceiling in my dream then had a false awakening, back in my bed. This time I went out of my bedroom door, willing with all my strength that something besides my hallway would be out there. Nope, theres the hallway and the stairs going up! (I live in the basement) I started floating up the stairs and then had another false awakening. This time I managed to get all the way up stairs and to the front door. I ran at it and attempted to dive right through it head first. The pain at the top of my head actually fealt quite real when I bounced off of it. Then I had ANOTHER false awakening. This cycle of escape attempts and false awakenings happened for a while.

Has this happened to anybody else? Im stuck in my house in my dreams! Its not fun at all, I feel like i'm 12 years old and grounded, confined to the house. So if anybody has any tips or suggestions, PLEASE respond.

      hey,
      I posted this technique before but, if you don't want to end up in your room when WILDing try this;
When you find yourself in SP or on the verge of a dream just imagine reaching out for a door handle. It may take a couple of tries but eventually you will feel the door handle in your hand, open the door and you should find yourslef in a dream world other than your room. I used to roll off my bed but ,like you, I always ended up in my room. Since performing this technique I have always found myself in a new dream world.
      Hope this helps.
      Are you dreaming or awake?

That's pretty bizarre. I don't understand why you can't just walk down the stairs and OPEN the front door and walk out?

But maybe there's a subconscious belief that you're trapped?

Maybe you can try some of LaBerge's approach to recurring nightmares? Visualize the problem and then imagine different possibilities.
      - you open a window and fly out.
      - a tornado rips the roof off of your dream house
      - the USS enterprise teleports you up
      - you have a chainsaw under your bed and you cut through your bedroom wall.

really your belief is blocking you, change your belief. 8)

I'll give it a try. So when you say reach out for a door handle, are you picturing a whole door? Or just the knob or handle? I've tried a similar technique of visualizing a familier place, like a local park or something on the verge of the dream. This works some times, but most of the time i'm stuck in my room.

All I do is imagine my hand reaching out for a handle - This is usually in darkness/ SP When I feel the handle I open the door - this is when the dream scene appears to me. I suppose you could try create a scene if you want to end up in a specific location but i prefer to just see what's there I've been to some pretty surreal locations using this method, I once opened a door to find myself on top of a roof in some unfamiliar environment with the sea to my left and and old shanty town to my right

Perhaps you feel insecure about leaving your house for some reason. Maybe you should sit down and assess all of the possible reasons for not being able to leave. Make sure you are confident of your dream controlling abilities, also. Confidence is very important.

I've struggled with this as well. My general method is to bust out of the window or through the roof (using swimming motions to break your way out).

Maybe it is like the Matrix where if you believe it will happen, it will happen. I would try charging the window at such a high velocity that there is no question that you will break out. Or you could try passing through the window slowly without breaking it.

      Good Luck!

What I would do is try and jump out of the window. Of course there are other ways too. If you see a mirror or a TV(anything glass) they are normally easy to walk through. What you do is you put your hand over it then you just push, doesn't have to be hard, just a firm push. It almost always works for me, and if it fails atleast your not going to hurt yourself running into something. The same would work for a window or even the wall. The wall is harder but if you focus it shouldn't be that hard.

Another way is spinning around really fast and thinking of some where else. Theres a chance you might get a false awakening with this, so if you fail do a reality check.

Another way is to walk around a corner and think of another place. A house isn't really a house in a dream, there isn't a single reason why you can't walk down a hall and end up outside.

You can also just shout really loud "I WANT TO GO OUTSIDE" before you open the door. Some times yelling it will work, when thinking it doesn't.

If all else fails you can try punching a hole into the wall.

Here's something I've done a couple of times -- not because I was trapped, but just because I wanted to transport myself somewhere. It worked fairly well.

Using your finger, "draw" a portal on the nearest wall. Believe that this portal will transport you somewhere other than your house. Then simply step through it.

Thanks for a lot of great responses! I've tried a lot of these ideas before. Unfortunately, I don't have any windows in my room (basement). I have tried the spinning before and it produced a False Awakening. I have managed to jump through a mirror once before, I should try to stick with that since it worked once.

Drawing a portal sounds pretty fun! I'll have to remember that.
I guess my bigest problem is the amount of FAs I have. Everytime I shout out loud or try to do anything really, I end up back in my bed. This pretty much makes me "trapped"

What I do, is I press my nose very hard against a peice of glass(like a window), telling myself that it will break. Eventually, my nose breaks through the glass, and the rest of me gets "sucked" through the hole and I find myself on the other side.

I think you need to calm down first.

At least In my experience - once I was getting through a window and I was almost out, my leg got trapped in it. I became frightened and in panic I tried to pull my leg out and it wouldn't move a bit. Then I calmed down and slowly pulled my leg out and it felt as if it wasn't trapped at all in the first place.

I've had other similar experiences and I always found out that the harder I tried to make something end because of fear, anger, panic and other such emotions, the more my dreams produced exactly that.

I think that after you are calmed down any of those tricks that others suggested should work with no problem.

My suggestion is to dive head first into the wall and you should come out in a different place. Also, jumping out of windows are great as well. good luck.
