anyone know how to extend time in dreams

I just starting lucid dreaming, and I don't have frequency or recall yet (at all) since I am just starting, but once I get frequent I want to get to extend time since that could let me dream on and on. FUN. I am sure there are many other people who also would love to know how to extend time. Does anyone know how to do it?

i heard that if you spin around when you are about to wake up (when the area around is fading away) you will continue to dream, i tried it but i woke my self up.

or atleast turn off your alarm clock..........it interupted the best dragonball z dream i had..........the moment they were about to collide....and fight the best fight ever........damn that alarm clock DAMN IT!!!!!!!!

actual length of the time you dream? no idea.

length of the time you stay in lucid dreams?

      1. rub your hands together really vigorously until you feel them burn, and say 'stabilize', or 'clarity now', or anything else designed to stabilize and intensify the lucid.

      2. look at your hands and examine every line and detail until they are lifelike. if the dream ever starts to fade or 'wash out', look at your hands to re-stabilize.

those are the two i use, and they usually work like a charm.

Ive heard other peoplee say that this will actually wake you up but in my cases its resulted in staying lucid longer. I touch something and just take in how real it feels, I think its kind of like the hands thing, really focousing on the detail but in this case it focusing on feel.Anyways try it, if it doesnt work then dont pay attention to this post.lol.

thanks for the ideas, i'll try them when I get lucid, but what I am asking is if anyone knows how to extend time in the sense of sleeping for one night, but making the dream seem like it was, for example, a month long.

there is a way to control it considering it is happening inside your own mind, in theory it should be as long as you want it to be, i also heard that lucid dreams get longer the more you have them, so maybe the skill of changing dream time comes with lucid experience and it might not be a seperrate skill to learn

focusing on your hands seems to make a massive difference. To me it certainly does. I find the more detail I am trying to take in when I am dreaming the harder it is to stay. I then start rubbing my hands together, it works very well. Looking at your hands and concentrating on them works extremely well too.

Anyone like to posit why hands are so important. I mean our hands are pretty important to us anyhow, I know that I focus on my hands in real life subconsciously all the time. I'm very aware of them in an instinctive way.

Perhaps focusing on our hands allows us to recognise ourselves and stop us losing our identity in the dream. I know I frequently am not myself in my nonlucid dreams. When I look at my hands I feel myself become more me and more solid though.

I know a guy... i forget his DV name... um... he created HILD technique... but he said he's been in a non-lucid for what seemed like 500 years. And he's been supposedly lucid for what seemed like months-years. He's been training in meditation and lucid dreaming for 8 years though LOL.
need to actually start like trying to LD i've pretty much started that now kinda.

if you're talking about time distortion, as in slowing down the perception of time within the dream so it seems like you are in the dream longer, i have been experimenting with this. basically my idea was that i would wake up before my alarm went off and think to myself "darn, i have 20 minutes left until i have to get up? i wish it were HOURS" and then fall back to sleep with the intention of distorting time to make it seem like i was getting in a lot more sleep. i was definitely possible, in small doses, but i'm not sure how i did it other than to just TRY. i will try this again soon and report back my findings

I once fell asleep at 1am and woke up, i thought it was about 6am (waking time) because it felt like i had a whole nights sleep but when i looked at my watch it was only 2am I was so confused, it really felt as though i had a full 5-10 hour sleep!

It's all a pretending manner inside the dream... Like if you want somebody to appear in a room you'll have to "think" that this very person is waiting for you around the corner...

I had a dream that lasted 3 hours, though in real life it was just a couple of minutes...

You have to actually think that the dream lasts that long, not focus on the events at all, like if time was a problem. When you're actually aware that you might wake up at any moments, you'll actually see your vision fade in no time. By doing activities that doesn't stress you out, you'll actually go like time wasn't a problem. We tend to get excited when we lucid dreams so that's one major problem.

Oh and yeah, Inside the dream, slowling a clock or making the sun stop for exemple are good action to do to prevent short dreams. By doing so, it'll help you pretending that time isn't an issue...

Maybe next time I LD (hopefully soon) I'll try slowing down a clock then, and not stress out. I seems like the most recommended thing to try. Thanks for the great ideas, and more are always welcome.

Keep doin RC and focus on something. If you feel it about to fade just stare at a wall for a few sec. and absorb the details. It lengthens the dream almost always for me.

I had a technique for this back then, but it's a bit silly. I just imagine an alarm clock that will extend the length of your dreams for a certain amount of time. Each time I do it, the clock will always pop into my hand and reset it's time by itself. Somehow, the dream lasted longer. I've done this a few times, but I don't know if it'll work for others. Worth a try though.
