I had a lucid dream last night that led to a false awakening. I almost immediately became lucid again and I could not move. This has happened to many a few times before.

How can I move again?

I found that if I closed my eyes I could float through a wall to the outside, but then I would have a false awakening again. I had about 8 false awakenings total.

How do I avoid false awakenings?

One time while going through the wall, I experienced pain. How do I avoid this?

Some new reality checks:

If you clasp your hand over your mouth you can still breathe (similar to plugging your nose).

I put a pillow in front of my face last night and when I was dreaming, realized that I could not put my hand to my face, even though in the dream there was nothing there. I then became lucid. (This one seems odd. It seems to me that you would be able to touch your face while in a dream regardless of there being a pillow there).

That sounds more like sleep paralysis then a flase awakening. They're not uncommon, especially for people who spend time practicing LDs, and AFAIK, they're not dangerous. I've found that it usually happens to me when I open my eyes in the middle of REM. The body remains paralyzed, as it should be, but my mind is awake, as in a LD. Some people report feeling a pressure on their chest, or a feeling of being watched or of impending danger. As far as the pain when you float through a wall, I'd reccomend refraining from floating through walls!

Interesting RC with the pillow, I'll have to try that one!

Well, some how I did RCs so I guess I could move a little bit. And the previous time it happend (where I couldn't move) was in an unfamiliar room.

Hey,
I'm not sure why you would want to avoid false awakenings. In my opinion they are an excellent way at entering Lucid dreams. If you mean how do you avoid non-lucid false awakening's then just start RCing everytime you wake up.
I have had many LD's through false awakening's and they are among the most vivid and realistic LD's I've ever had.
Also, If you find yoursef having many FA's in a row, next time this happens just use the oppourtinity to experience the sensations. If you are able to sit up, simply look around and concentrate on the dream world. If, when you open your eyes you find yourself back in your sleeping position just (as you said) imagine floating out of your body etc. If you take things slow you will find that you will gain more control. It just take's time and experience.
