      dream endings

How do dreams regularly end? Are they supposed to fade away slowly? What does it mean when your dream abruptly ends without any warning? I want to try out the prolonging techniques before my dream ends but i just black out before i can do anything. Its frustrating! Also, i dont get excited in my lds but they all remain short. Help me, please

it's just a matter of practice--for me, whenever i start thinking about the fact that i'm currently experiencing an LD in more than just a passing thought it generally ends right there. if i think about trying to prolong the dream, it ends. practice makes perfect.

It's different for different people. I think you can train your mind to have certain types of dream endings....If you have a preference...A lot of people have problems with a dream just ending abrupty, so it's not just you. Don't worry. Practice and put in effort and you shall recieve a reward. Eventually it will come out right.

Ok, but when your dream ends suddenly does that mean that you did something that you shouldnt or something woke you up? Or is that just how some dreams end and you cant control it?

One of my friends had this problem. He would just attain Lucidity and do something rather generic, such as “will” something large to happen or try to fly. This results in him waking spontaneously also quite distressed.

I explained to him that he needs to work on the way he see his dreams, as if he’s expecting more from his dreams than he can achieve with his present skill level. I would advise that when you attain Lucidity, try some basics like taking notice of your surroundings, the sound of the atmosphere, small things, things you would normally not pay any attention to.

      Good luck kungpow chicken.

I'm not yet sure if different endings have particular meanings. I think most of my dreams end abruptly, sometimes with my blinking my eyes; others seem to fade out for a second first; and I once even had a dream that ended with a very smooth, deliberate-looking crossfade effect from the last image I saw in the dream to the image I was actually seeing through my open eyes in real life.

This might be an interesting thing for me to start keeping track of--which dreams end with what effects--and try to see if there's a correlation with that and the content of the dream. I'll have to think about that.

Do you mean that you wake up or that the dream scene disappears and everything turns black?

Yeah, mine usually just end at some point. Sometimes there will be some reason to it, like If I get surprised and wake up, but they usually just end.
