If you are trying to enter a new dream scene by spinning it is important to visualize it in your head while spinning around. Expectation also plays an impotant role, if you have doubts it probably wont work.
Other teleportation methods include, jumping through a mirror, flying to a new dream scene, or creating a portal (e.g. draw the shape of a portal on the nearest wall and step through it) + others that I can't seem to think of at the moment :)
Also, Dream spinning can cause you to FA, so it is important to RC whether you end up in the same room or you find yourself lying in bed thinking you have woken up because chances are you're still dreaming. That 'pulling' feeling you described has happened to me a numeber of times, I believe it is caused by your brain becoming concious of your sleeping body - you can't possibly be walking around if you are lying in bed, it's kind of an 'in-between' stage of dreaming and waking up.
Good Luck
