Hey, guys, why nothing on "deepening" the dreams?

Alright, this is the first time I found this forum, but I was wondering why there was nothing on "deepening" the dream, going deeper in it, making it seem much more real? I know at least two ways to do it, which are as follows:

      - Touching everything, trying to feel every little detail. In other words, concentration on every little things, be it through touching, or looking at something very closely. Can't look at a broad view, though, I found that kicks me out of the dream. Concentration and especially activity also helps me to remain much longer in the dream. If I don't start running around and engaging actively in something, I go to sleep, or wake up.

      - Falling. In other words, forgetting about the dream and just falling in total darkness, best upside down. It's also a form of holding the dream, so you won't wake up if you do that.
I found that after you fall for a time, and you think about something (concentrate hard), you'll be somewhere that's associated with your thought, and it's going to be VERY real.

You can also shut your eyes, as long as you feel the fall. The vision isn't really all that important (in my point of view).

By the way, if you don't believe me, try it next time. Or the next several times, perferrably, there are always unforseen duds and problems.

Sometimes these things don't work, but when they do, everything becomes completely real, and even more real than actual reality (probably because the impulses originate in the brain and don't come from out eyes/legs/arms, thus happening faster).

I might just have missed the thread talking about all this, but I was genuinly surprised no one was talking about this...

      Hi! Welcome on board!!

We do have a tutorial on increasing dream realism. Please give it a read and let me know what you think we should add to it.

People do talk about a dream's reality on these forums, but I haven't seen many things written on how to increase realism. Maybe this is because most people won't care about the realism of their lucid dreams, and focus mostly on its content.
These tips could be useful for some people to increase the realism of their dreams though. In fact, I may just try one of them when I get the chance (there's so much I want to try already though ;_; ).

On a sidenote It's important to remember that the effects of these actions are, like all dream actions, based mostly on expectation and motivation. That means "finding" that looking at things broadly will kick you out of the dream, will only make it true because you think it is.
In other words, don't be scared off from doing certain things in your dreams because someone (including yourself) says they'll wake you up. This doesn't have to be the case, as long as you realize that the "rules of lucid dreaming" are made by you alone.
      A dream
is a reality that others cannot see.
      Reality
is a dream you share with others.

True enough, but I only thought it after it happened about six-seven times, and I woke up (or, more often, just went to sleep) when looking at a broad panorama for too long. I think I kind of get lost in the dream and go to sleep.

And I'll check out that tutorial.

Good tutorial, it covers most of what I mentioned, but it has nothing on falling, and I think it's one of the best techniques to increase realism, and it works 90% of the time. Here's some more info:

As soon as you realise you're in a dream, start falling. If you're in a building, fall through the floor and keep going, and going.
While falling, you'll sense you're getting deeper. After a time, sight might appear on its own. You probably won't see anything that makes sense, but what you will see with be very bright, sharp and colourful. Anyhow, once you feel "deep enough", concentrate on a place and go on with your plans. Odds are, everything will be very real. I suggest doing this as soon as you realise you're in a dream, and not stopping until you feel very deep.

As for realism, it's possible that your actions will be restricted by stereotypes created by the intense realism (ie. not able to go through walls). I think it disappears after a while, if you do it a lot.

Plus, flying in a 'deep' state is MUCH more fun than in a shallow dream. 8)

Also, you can do this if you feel an exit coming on. (Waking up, or going to sleep). Falling through darkness or picking up an object and examining every little detail on it can keep you in the dream, and increase realism, too.

      Try it.

Definitely add to it, that was more of a compilation of lots of things I've heard on increasing dream realism as opposed to personal experience. I'd be happy if you added to it

I always feel long falls in my dreams, like a rollercoaster feeling (which I love), so I'll be sure try that next time.

I noticed that falling head down seems to help the process a lot. Also, remember, don't stop until you feel you're as deep as you can go.

Let me know how you went.
