      HEY, TURN DOWN THE VOLUME!!!

Last night all my dreams were extra loud, like surround sound turned up to top volume. It was hard to stay asleep through them. In fact, I often woke up. But when I went back to sleep, my dreams were again LOUD.

      Weird.

I couldn't figure out how to turn down the volume. It was like someone turned it up to 11 and then broke off the control switch.

      Any ideas on this one??

      ever try shouting "QUIET" out?

Usually vocal commands work better for me than anything else. Maybe its my commitment to the idea when I shout it out in my dreams.

Try and take the shape off
Turn into the whole wide world I made up"

I had something like this happen once or twice as I was in that middle zone between sleep and dreaming.

One time I started hearing the Star Wars theme as I was lyin with my eyes closed - not quite dreaming but definitely not really awake either. It started out kind of faint, then grew louder. The more I paid attention to the melody, the louder it got. I'm pretty sure it was part of hypnogoggia so I realized that I was really the one in control of it.

As it got louder it got clearer as well. The sound then grew richer in quality - even had the hall reverb making it sound like i was listening to an orchestra live in concert! I do remember the loudness getting out of control, though. Just like you describe it. It got to a point where it actually woke me out of this 'limbo' area. Probably could have had a WILD!

Basically, next time just convince yourself that you are in control of what you're "hearing" - it's all in your head. And if you can, try to visualize a scene that incorporates this sound. You might slip into a dream in which you could simply create a volume knob and turn it down

So, after looking up WILD on the tutorial dealie, I'd have to agree, that's what I kept slipping into. Sometimes I'm afraid to get actively involved in controling a dream, even something like turning down the volume, because it can be so distracting to feel that conscious during sleep. On the other hand, the volume was most assuredly distracting and if that happens again i'm going to remember to let go of that fear of consciousness and just turn it down.

This happened to me when I had some fever dreams once. It was some kind of war scene and everything was really loud and it was like the dream was zoomed in. I kept having the same part reoccur whenever I fell back asleep.

I don't really know how to stop it though.

Your dream was too loud? LMAO!!
      That's some good stuff.
I like the volume knob idea.. like if you could imagine that the noise was coming out of the radio... that would work.
One think I've found about dreams is that you have to find creative ways to control them sometimes... It's easier to create something small than something big, but if you can create something small that LOGICALLY would create something big, it would work.
Same thing here. If you can't control the volume of the music, create something that does.

      Loud dreams... LMAO! That's rich...
