      death...?

Of course, there is the infumous tale of dreaming of your death...that you will actually die in your sleep. i know that this is merely a myth, but i was wondering, has anyone experienced their own death in their lucid dream?

i know that its not a pleasent thing to want to experience, however, i think it would be fantastically cool if one experienced their own death to search for what may be an afterlife.

i might be going out on a limb here, but i was just wondering if anyone has any input on this....
if you think that you're strong enough...if you think you belong enough...nice dream.~Radiohead

      my friend's dreams

every dream one of my friends has he dies at the very end to matter what happens lol. im not kidding, due to umm "obscure" situations he ends up dying. im ont sure if u could count thses dreams as telling how he is going to die(since he dies differently each time). and he also dies at the end of his dreams always. so i hope this helps u.

I have died in a nomal dream. It was a pretty good death involving an entertaining blockbuster car crash. After the death everything went black and then I felt my spirit without the body. You basically wander around in the real world except with no body or real presence to present your self to other people.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I've sometimes remained in the dream after 'dying' before. Even falling down a pit and hitting the ground, and not waking up as soon as I hit!

I then don't feel pain or see a white light, I just am still 'councious' as it were and can see, hear, etc. but I can't move or speak. I which point in the past (these case were non-lucid dreams) I've paniced when I couldn't move and "realized" I was dead...that fright was what awoke me, not the moment of death itself..

I dunno I've always heard when you die in a dream, particularly in cases where you're falling that you die as soon as you would in real life (ie hit the ground, the bullet pierces your chest, etc) but sometimes I seem to outlive that albeit briefly. Maybe my dream 'metabolism' is slow?

On that note, I've heard rumours before that if you have a falling dreams and that if you actually stay asleep upon impact, instead of the shock waking you up, that you can die for real because supposedly the shock of 'dying' which you think is real gives you a heart attack...

...but I'm saying, don't worry that's just a myth, otherwise I'd already be dead

you can never tell if some one's having a dream that causes them to die because he cant tell anyone his dream if he's dead. so maybe when people "wake up dead" they actually had a dream that caused them to die.

i think that most likely, even if you have a lucid dream where you die, and proced on to an after life, that its just self crated, and not really your afterlife. Whether experiences your afterlife is possible or notcan be determined on many diferent levels before the last level(being truth). like, for example, not believeing its possible, or, not believing in fate. or believing in fate, and the afterlife. I think one who believes in fate would more likely see their acual death, because it is a set thing that could be looked upon if it was needed to be looked at. A non-believer in fate would probobly not be able to see their death, because as of that point, they have none yet. Their death has not yet happened, is non existent, and they have an endless amount of different ways for them to die, making it an impossibility for them to view their death, if it is possible at all. to me though this sounds very related to astral projection, which i do not know all that much about, and i'm tired and will maybe continue to rant tommorow night. gnight.

      defying death

I have never dreamed of my own death, per se, but I have dreamed of receiving terminal wounds (for example falling off of a cliff and landing on my head or being shot or cut on the neck/head) and then NOT dying. I also often receive terminal wounds, then heal myself by concentrating or praying to God.

I think that most of the time, because I am aware that it's just a dream, I know that I CANNOT truly die -I have convince myself that it is just a dream and that I am not in reality -therefore virtuall anything goes. The times when I have dreamt or felt as if I am being "killed" or attacked (for exmple being in a sword fight or being shot at, cut, etc.), I either wake up in that instant, or enter another level of sleep. Looks like you hit a hot topic...

Funny you should mention this. I remember a while back when things weren't going all that great in my life. My dreams would often become nightmares. I normally recognize i'm dreaming by doing a reality test. If I realize i'm dreaming and its in a night mare I commit suicide in order to wake up It normally entales jumping off a high building or out of a window. This is of course before I found this site and ways to control my nightmares.....

      many universe

Well if you beleive in the many universe theory and that every decision you make splits the universe, one of your doubles is dieing somewhere, but I dont know if I buy that...it may just be your mind's idea of what dealth would be. I guess people that have near death experiences say it is really profound, and I've had real vivid dreams, but nothing life changeing yet.

I can remember a few non-lucid dreams where I died, and I immediately woke up every single time.

To be honest, I'm a bit afraid of what may possibly happen when you die in a (lucid or non-lucid) dream. There are still some mind-body connections, for example you can still control your eye movings and your breath while you are dreaming.

Question: does this mean, when you hold your breath (or something forces you to hold your breath !) while you are dreaming, you can actually suffocate ?

Well, for my part, I don't plan to invenst my precious lucid dreaming time in researching dream-death experiences.
      Sleep well and prosper.

I have died many times in my dreams. Sometimes I see all the commotion around my body and I feel sad for my family because they are so upset. Sometimes I'm a spirit trying to find ways to let my loved ones know I still exist. Sometimes it's like I'm a character in a movie and the movie goes on. I don't believe you'll really die if you dream you die.

      don't worry about it

It is impossible for that to happen. I have dreams about death every so often. As a matter of fact i had one that i was dying but i woke up before it actually happen. I really wouldn't worry about it.[/b][/url]

Wow. I have thought often about the ehtics of Lucid dreaming. But never put suicide in with that train of thought. Scenario= you tell yourself I am going to a better place and you then take your own life- wew.

I would like to oppologize to anyone who was offened by my last post. I recieved some PM's about it and I would like to clarify a few things.
I don't believe it would be a good practice to take your own life in a lucid dream. However with the topic of death at hand, it made me ponder over the actuality of all the chioces we have when we gain control of our dreams. their are no limitations. But by implying that one takes their own life, was not meant to twist the thread around as it may have.

See this is something I've been trying to go back and fourth on with those who claim death in a dream. Because I totally believe that you cannot experience death if you never died before. What I think is that its played totally over-rated as an experience. Everyone who has claim death has awaken from his/her dream. And this is the death experience for them. If this is the case then everytime we awaken from a dream we die in that dream rather Lucid or Not.
