Is flying supposed to be hard?

I havent had an LD in a while, but when I did, I remember I always used to loooove flying, but at the same time it was scary bcause if I went too high up, Id fall straight down, and if I went too low, its like the ground would suck me down and that would be the end of it, there was just noooooo way to get me back up in the air..
So yeah, it was cool, I loved it, but I was always nervous about it, I had to do it perfectly, and I had a fear of staying on the ground

Wrong place. This should be in general lucid discussion.

Also, stop thinking about it so much. It is easier if you ignore the logistics, like flying a kite under floorboards.

Not necessarily. Flying does involve "control" for some members .. therefore this would be the appropriate forum.

Honestly I fly without even thinking about it.. I simply have NO DOUBT that I can. I either start running at full speed, leap into the air and think "up" or I jump into the air from someplace high.

Believe that flying is possible and it will happen!

...I have no problem with flying. In fact i've had a few dreams in the past couple months that involved some sort of inverted gravity. I couldn't manage to stay on the ground lol. I just don't understand why everyone here finds it so exciting...

Just say im going to fly now, then do it, dont think about how to do it inbetween.

Just know you can do it!

I prefer jumping out a window or something and gliding, once I'm gliding fast enough I can use my arms to fly like a bird.

In most cases, the difficulty in flying is self-created. In essence...your fear has constructed mental blocks that tries to protect you from pain in your dreams. Even if that means not flying or it being very difficult to fly.

Ivy, take a look at what Clairity wrote...the only difference between the difficulty you encounter and the success she has is her perception/outlook/beliefs. Like walking for instance...(pre-supposing you're able to walk) you don't think "Left foot move forward, right foot move forward..." You just walk. As far as flying goes...it's as easy as 1, 2 ,3 for me because it's like walking. It's easy to do, second nature and I don't fear walking My advice would be to really bury it into your head that you can do anything in your LD's except die, once that becomes en-grafted into your belief systems you will find flying is very very easy.

The only limits to your imagination and what can be done in an LD are the ones self-imposed. I hope that helps.

Cool! My sacred 2 LDs involved flying. I could always remember the great feeling of it with regular dreams. in my first LD i did a RC by throwing my arms up to see I would take off.
That just left me laughing for days. Better than any roller coaster I've been on.
      Good Luck!

For me too flying is a no brainer these days. I used to fly in (normal) dreams for a long time, but the flying was usually difficult, required lot of effort. In about last two years my dream flying has slowly become more effortless and I started to occasionally experience really nice flying dreams with excellent control.

Flying in lucid dream is rather different matter. I take off easily -- I really don't have any technique, I simply fly (usually my flying starts from a window, but I never need to jump). The problem is that in LD's I really struggle to control the flight, I have problem landing in the place I choose, sometimes things get completely out of hand (which means waking up).

i think its because you're aware of it. when i concentrate too hard i get excited then lose the ability.
