So far everytime I've tried to use spinning to change the dreamscene, nothing happens. If I close my eyes while spinning I just wake up (not FA). Are there any other methods for generating a new enivronment?

Spinning has never worked for me either. Just walk through a door.
Walking thourgh doors don't help me. I never been able to change scenes. I just try to fly to where I want to go or drive or any type of vechile. Sometimes where I want to go is right over the horizon. :)
But if you're in a house somewhere on Earth, and you want to swim in sunfire in a parallel universe, you probably won't be able to fly there, especially if you haven't yet figured out the control necessary to change scenes from room to room, and if you could it would take too much time and energy - you'd risk loosing lucidity.
Just practice opening doors to different places for a while. It will probably start to work for you after a couple of tries, if not immediately.
yeah... opening doors or heavy windows work for me too... just do something wherein you will expect something unexpected happens... that should do the trick.
i just finished filling up a second notebook (i always keep a pencil and notebook on my night stand, so that i can write down as many dream elements as i can when i wake up...). when i make short films with my camera, i get ideas from my dreams... and they usually work out. ^_^ i'm sure lots of people do the same thing here...
For such a problem I would use a simple solution. I've already made my point that whenever I get to stabilize a dream successfuly, I'll go to a place I decided to call the 'hall of lost doors'. Basically it's that old long corridor with lots of doors on both sides. You could just let your imagination wander a little (not forgetting that, of course, it's a dream, for lucidity's sake) and simply pick a random door to walk through. Even if you end in the same room from where you came from, it works anyway, because you would have used a different door than the one you actually used to get into the corridor.
The only problem here is, of course, expecting that hall to be there whenever you cross through a door. But well, practice makes perfect. and hell if I'm looking forward to go into that hall myself!

That post has a really good explanation on why you can go through any door and it be anywhere on the other side.
I usually just try to walk up to a wall and have it absorb me, and that usually changes the scene. I tend to lose lucidity that way though. =/
I teleport to change locations. There are 2 ways of teleportation : short range and long range.
Short range takes you in some other place wihin the same dreamscape, for example you may escape from someone who's chasing you this way. To teleport short range I think of the destination and kinda shift myself there. It doesnt require much effort, about just as difficult as lifting off the ground to start a flight. If you experiment a little you will find a method that will work for you.
For long range teleportation I think of the desired location and visualize myself in it. I shift my attention from the surrounding dreamscape into that visualization. I let go of my dream body and everything around me. Kinda like ignoring it all and focusing only on the destination. It only takes a couple seconds to get to the new location and another 5 seconds or so to let the dreamscape stabilize. After that you are free to do whatever you wish.
There's a couple other ways that also produced results for me: one fo them is entering the "void" - total darkness with nothing around you. Then you can change this darkness into any dreamscape taht you wish.
Another method is stretching your arms in front of you so they cover some of the dreamscape. Then you state your intent and think of a place where you want to go. As you slowly move your hands to your sides, the dreamscape behind them changes to resemble the one that you were thinking about. This technique is good for changing some minor details in the current dreamscape - for example you may create a door in the wall or do something similar.
Nevertheless, I find all experiments with changing dreamscape to be dangerous to lucidity - the simplest thing thay may happen is you will wake up, but you may also end up in a different or desired location with no lucidity whatsoever. The dream may continue for many more minutes causing you to remember only fragments of your lucid experience. Therefore I prefer to work in the setting provided, unless it is very dark or some other thing prevents me from experimenting.
Last night I tried spinning and I fell over.
Try falling backwards or forwards. (pretty darn effective)
Close your eyes and reopen them
Yell out loud "Change Lucid Scenery"
etc.
I usually just say to myself, "I'm spinning, and when I stop spinning, I will be in a different spot."
It's worked. I've learned, that you have to stop thinking if you can do it, and start thinking that you will do it.
I tried falling forwards and backwards last night. Forwards works very well (I even felt my head hit the floor!), but falling backwards wasn't doing it for me.Quote:
