Hey there...
If you check out my Dream Journal, you'll see that I had my first LD a few days ago. What I'm wondering is this: How does spinning work? I tried just turning around, but I don't believe I was able to create what I wanted. How do I "spin" myself?
Dream spinning is, literally, spinning around in circles in your dream, like you might have done as a child. It's really that simple. The purpose is that it helps to "anchor" you in the dream, and makes the dream a bit more "stable." It's usually used when you feel like you are about to wake up, in order to try to prolong the dream. I've also used it for teleporting.
It's not fully understood why this works, but it's theorized that it works because it stimulates your dream senses. They say that the best way to stabilize a dream is to focus your five senses on the dream itself, and this works in reverse- the best way to end a dream is to withdraw your senses from it, for example by laying down and going to sleep in your dream. Paradoxically, this should cause you to wake up.
Yeah I've been thinking of trying that to induce a more stabalized dream. I heard though that in your waking hours it is good to practice being aware, since it will become habit when then your dreaming. I assume when it means 'being aware' its talking about focusing on all your sences right? I just have a question though, does it mean you should focus on all your sences all at once or is it alternately? Because I can only have complete focus on two at a time.Quote:

I think spinning is atchuly called dream weving
Spinning is what it is, just turn around in circles, like what you would do if you wanted to get totally naseous :)
Some theories are that it works becouse if you spin in real life, your brain tries to get back it's vision/orientation. If you could do it in a dream, your brain would allso try to make everything more clear again.
All I know is that it works, but it's hard to remember to do when you are losing lucidy.

spinning does not work for me but it is fun to do. Everytime I spin and stop real fast, the environment takes a minute to catch up with me (kind of like being drunk) and while I am waiting for it I see that time has been frozen as well. Then the scene stabalizes and time resumes. I saw my cat froze in place in one dream in was kind of funny.
