Spinning - not working for me.

OK, last night I had my second LD (hold the applause) and I was having trouble controlling it, just like I did in my first one. I attempted spinning, and thought about the place I wanted to be, but when I opened my eyes I was right in the same place. Anything I could do better or any tips?

Depends on what you were trying to reach with the spinning.

If you want to stabilise your dream more but don't want to spin - Rub your hands.
If you want to "teleport", just say "When I turn around there will be a door leading to [...]".

Yep, spinning is more effective as a way of stabilising dreams; that's what it's designed to do. I'm not sure precisely why it's usually used for teleporting or changing dream scenes, but there are probably other ways to do this better.

as mentioned before, you can try falling (backwards or forwards) that ususally works.

if you wake up u can try this a couple of times until you get used to the sensation

      Usually this wakes people up.

Make sure to immediately do an RC upon awakening. FA's are a bitch!

I'm obviously in the minority here, but FA's don't bother me so much... I see it as a nice surprise once I realize I'm dreaming (usually only takes a few seconds), and I feel like I just got some extra lucid time instead of waking up for real. I suppose if I were in the middle of something really cool though, I'd be pissed.

I'm also having trouble with the spinning though. By the time it occurs to me that I'm losing my dream and should spin to regain control, I've already lost the sense of my dream body - it happens really fast for me. Any tips?

You're pretty fortunate because I don't think I've had an FA where I realized I was dreaming. Same for dreamsigns, as I have not yet gone lucid from them. LDs have just been by chance for me.

Whenever you spin to change scenes make sure you have your intentions set on where you want to go and what you want it to look like, try to imagine it or say it out loud in your dream before spinning. I had this problem in my first LD and in my next one i made sure i had my intentions set before i even went to sleep of what i was going to do in my dream and once i was in my dream I restated my intentions and spun and it worked perfectly.

In my experience with spinning (teleporting, not stabilizing), you have to really try it a couple times to understand how to do it. I've (sort of) done it twice.

What I do is after stabilizing the dream (with hands or what have you) I relax my body and eyes. Having my eyes closed (or just barely open) seems to work better for me. I then start spinning as fast as I can, imagining my self being there. I try to make my self feel like I am there. I then just basically let go into the dream, and expect to be in the place I wanted.

If it doesn't work the first time, don't think it doesn't work overall, just think it didn't work this time. Remember, you can do anything if you believe enough it will happen.

FAs are nice because they are a sure ticket for me to have another LD, once I get lucid enough and I have a few FAs theres no stopping me except if I wake up for real.

Yes, if one wishes only to go to a different dream locale, then why not do the intuitively obvious, which is to pick up and fly to one.

I used to do so quite accidentally. I loved to fly and was perturbed when I would seem to run out of gas and lose altitude and land. But after awhile I noticed a discernable pattern -- I was landing into much better Dream Scenes than those I had been departing from. it then seemed to me that my Higher Dream Mind was putting aside the Best Dreams for when I would go Lucid and Fly up into the Sky. The Special Saved Up Dreams would be awaiting me at my landing.

So, since Flying is more enjoyable than spinning anyway, why not Fly to your New Dream Scenes. You need not concern yourself about a particular location, but just fly up and wait until you naturally begin to descend.... crash land whereever you happen to come down. your Dream Mind will take care of all the necessary details.

I experienced that in my last lucid dream. I floated away into a very interesting dreamscape once I became lucid. It almost seemed as if it representation of some part of my mind.

About spinning though, I've tried it once and it actually caused me spin uncontrollably and wake up.

Yes, running out of gas is pretty common if you use "propulsion" or "superman" flying - a split second loss of concentration will send you plummeting to the ground and you are likely to wake up or lose a fair big of lucidity.

The better way of flying is by attraction - you levitate like 20 feet above ground and attract of fall towards objects in the distance.

Spinning sucks last night i had my 9th lucid (yay go me)

First i was dreaming about getting ready for bed brushing my teeth and stuff i went in to my room and light didn't work i then did a nose RC and i was lucid but i was worry i fell asleep while brushing my teeth although it was 7:00am when i had the dream i went into my dark room i wanted to change the enviroment by spinning nothing happend so i gave upi worked out to my driveway my mum and dad were going for a drive i ask my dad if i could drive he said yes (i've never driven in my life ) i got in and all the seats were folded back (caused maybe the day before i had to drive in my auntys car and the back seats were folded bak) so i drove out and onto the street we were meant to be going to a funeral for some reason i just kept driving at over 180km/h i hit a barier on the road and got out there was a cliff i wanted to see if i could fly using a jet pack it didn't work i fell several metres and hit the rocks without feeling any pain then i appear at a table with fruit at it i tried my powers again and changed all the colours of the food then i woke up at 9:00 my lucid lasted for 2 hours

Sorry i posted my dream i just have to write it somwhere when i have them

but spinning sucks and NEVER works so dont try
