So let's examine this possibility. In Waking Life do you often rely upon other people, or are you insular and independent?
And then there is the concern for what you are contributing to the Dream. In my dreams I have been experiencing a great deal of team work with the Dream Characters, where the Dream Characters have their distinct talents and make their contributions to the progress of the Dreams, but I have developed an expertise all of my own -- I seem to be the expert at diplomacy, talking, or in particulary tense situation I become the Security Consultant... the soldier... the body guard.
But it was not always this way. Now I am an old man. What I suppose is that over the years I was able to incorporate and integrate some of the more admirable Dream Characters into my own Persona.
In your dreams, where the Dream Characters have nearly all of the Powers, the ultimate goal of your program of Lucid Dreaming should be to integrate the best of your dream characters into your own persona. And that doesn't really require much of a deliberate technique. One only has to work with and admire such Dream Characters and the magnetism of the affinity does the rest... over the years.
One's Dream Persona can change and develop over time. This can be verified by looking into Dream Mirrors, or even shiny plates of glass... glass doors... long glass windows... and see yourself. You might be surprised that it is not a likeness of your Waking Self that is looking back at you from your Reflection.
Anyway, it is a wonderful acknowledgment that Dreams have a Subjective Reality and that the Dream is influenced by the Dream as much or more than it can be by the Individual Dream Persona. Many Lucid Dreamers are entirely solipsistic, supposing that the entire Dream Scence, characters and all, are completely insubstantial, and their own imagination the only factor. Enter your point of view, and now the Dream has all the Power. Good, this should bring some balance to our Philosophy of Lucid Dreaming.
Good Post. We will all have to focus more on Dream Team Work. Besides, it is good for Civilization -- the practice of Cooperation, instead of the more destructive impulses toward independence and freedom.. traits more token of the Barbarian World then of the Civilized.
