Finally A Result!

I awoke at 8:00am from a full nights sleep, felt hungry and thirsty so i made breakfast and tea. After an hour i returned to bed for a nap and i experienced a False Awakening, when i rose from my bed to venture out of my room i reached the door then started to levitate in mid air. At first i was abit taken back then i realised i was lucid dreaming, i must of got too excited to continue because as i tried to move around in the dream i began to return to the floor and then before i knew it i was in the bed waking up.

I have read a lot of different websites concerning Lucid Dreaming and Obe, So i knew what to expect when the lucid dreams occured.

I would like to ask if anyone has experienced this before and have good suggestions on how to remain calm enough to enjoy the dream.

experience. Eventually, you'll remember to remain calm if you think about it enough, it took me a while before the excitement of lucid dreaming didn't take over the dream immediately, it still does sometimes.

When i was dreaming it was hard to remember the techniques which i learned, such as rubbing your hands together and spinning. I have recently downloaded a subliminal message program which doesnt seem to of helped i have also tried nearly all the techniques and dream helper aids.

Do you think if i made my affirmations better on the subliminal program it might help....

That's exactly the problem that I have every time I have an LD. I always get excited and the dream usually lasts a record time of 1.5 seconds. :(

Congrats on your first LD!

What happened to you is totally normal. I had an FA on my first semi-lucid dream. I have no idea on the subliminal message thing but you will get better at remembering things in LDs and they will get longer too. Just concentrate on dream journaling and doing consistent, *quality* RCs. You've probably read it many times but it really does work!

Thank you for all your replies! when i used to try the WILD technique i got as far as the REM stage shortly followed by an eye opening effect which makes it impossible to keep my eyes shut. So i switched my technique to the WBTB method which i had the above success, what i am trying now is to put little notes on the mirror in my room so i see them before bed and again when i arise.

I was wondering if my first LD was cut short because i had already had 8 hours sleep not the recomended 6.

My dream recall has improved alot since i started to cut back on my sleeping duration, i used to have 10- 11 hours sleep per day due to many a late night doing work on my computer. I believe if i have to much sleep then the dreams which im trying to recall are not accessible to my conscious mind due to deep state sleep.

It's like trying to make an unrecorded appointment. My technique is to relax and know that you will remember. Do it with 100% confidence/arrogance and never allow anything to doubt you. I could always spin in dreams. (It didn't help restore the dream, though.)

When i tried to lucid dream last night i remembered i had earplugs in my cabinet so i tried using them to increase my concentration and to focus on my breathing more.

I entered a LD by a false awakening again, when i awoke in the dream the earplugs werent there so i instantly realised i was dreaming. I now plan to use this method as a reality check for myself, but i am wondering if anyone else uses earplugs during LD attempts and has the dream ever replicated them in your ears in a dream?

I often use earplugs when sleeping -- LDing or not. As of yet, I've never experienced a dream where the earplugs were in my ears. Sounds like a pretty good RC to me, though of course it's always good to do more than one.

I also try to do the hold your nose and try to breathe RC too so i can just be sure.

I asked about the earplugs appearing in a dream because if they had appeared in a dream then it wouldnt be a very reliable RC. :content:

The earplug thing is a good question. I don't sleep with earplugs, but I'm going to try to sleep with a rubberband around my wrist, and I'll check in the mornings to see if it's there. If not, then it's a false awakening.

ARGH!!! This was one of the most INFURIATING dreams I've EVER had. SO STUPID! But first, a little backstory:

I woke up in the middle of the night to do a WILD, so, I put my earplugs in, to help sensory deprivation... I find the earplugs really help, they're these foam earplugs... (This is all in REAL LIFE)

EDIT: In the DREAM: I'm buying b12 and Melatonin in a pharmacy, and I'm talking to the guy about the availability of both, and the guy is talking to me, but I can't hear a thing he's saying. So, he points to the earplugs, and motions for me to take them out. Yeah, that's rioght, I'm wearing EARPLUGS in my dream. I think I'm still wearing my dressing-gown too, and have my hair tied up. LOL.

So, I take the ear-plugs out, and drop them on the counter. He asks me what the hell I'm doing wearing foam earplugs in the middle of the afternoon... I tell him I was just sleeping...[/b]

I have only ever had one false awaking i was in my bed and looked up at my clock for some reason it was on the top shelf of my cupboard my age at the time i wouldn't have been able to reach also for some reason i remember millions of lucid dreams when i was 8-10 years why is that do i lose the ability as i get older or what?

So it seems that any alien object which is attached to your body before you sleep has a good chance of not being there when you enter a dream world. But from the recent reply post's by fellow dreamers it seems that the object may appear in the dream regardless of it being alien to your body or not.

So this may prove to be a flaw in this RC!

My only concern with the rubberband idea is that during the night the band may constrict bloodflow to the arm or cause discomfort when sleeping which may result in being awoken from a Lucid Dream.
