No, really. I've got nothing.

Lucid dreams aren't something that needs some higher purpose. For some people, they can be helpful: ie curing nightmares and night terrors. But for most of us, we do it because...we can. And it's an amazing experience.
I've always had a hard time with philosophers who try to read deeply into something that's really as shallow as the kiddy pool.

As to why we can lucid dream--well, its sort of just a glitch of sorts. I don't know why our minds work that way, but as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter. We can, and it's fun, so why not?

It hightens the thought of knowing there is possible more to what we know about life

I like experiencing different scenarios flying, manipulating gravity, and breathing while underwater. The possibilities are endless and it's all up to the individual how far or how creative they can become with his/her Lucid Dream. It's really an indescribable feeling that overcomes you, excitement on an entirely different level.

We sleep away about a third of our lives. Wouldn't you like to experience some really cool dreams in that otherwise wasted time? Especially if you can choose what to dream about or change things to your liking. It sure makes bedtime A LOT more interesting!

If you want a higher purpose to lucid dreams, you can take a buddhist approach and attempt to compare dreaming with your waking life. To a buddhist, there are crucial issues to deal with between the viewer of the world and the world.

But generally, purpose and meaning are not necessary conditions for existence. Lucid dreams don't inherently have a purpose, or at the least, they don't need a purpose.

exactly. if something like this is possible. why can't anything be possible. i mean, i told my friend about this and he thought i was crazy. i told himself that there is no way this is possible. i kept an open mind to it. sure, i was still a little skeptical because i mean this is the internet, it could all be fake. but just two days ago i personally experienced a low level controled dream.

and plus. its awesome and something to do while your sleeping.

you spend around half of your life sleeping, why not make something of it?, eh?

It is incredibly fun an exciting. Just like riding a roller coaster. And you have to sleep. Why not have fun doing it.
