Is There Anyone Like Me?

hi everyone i'm new to this site.
i've always wondered if there is anyone who has similar experiences to myself?
trouble is i never really knew where to look, and never thought anyone would beleive me. then i stumbled across this site.
there is alot to tell, so i'll try and give a breif summary of my accounts.
it all started when i was about 6 yrs old. after waking from a nightmare my dad said "it's your dream son do what you want" so after that,i did. it was that easy! at first i was just aware i was dreaming. but being a young boy with an active imagination it soon became a lot of fun! after a couple of years i had totally mastered dream control, i've got clear memories of most of them. i know it sounds hard to believe (i sometimes find it hard to believe myself) it lasted until i was about 17-18 then when i started to take control everything would go hazy, it was as if i should'nt be doing it? i then started getting hariffic nightmares, totally really. i could write or talk about this for hours but theres to much to tell!
when i peaked i could do anything i wanted while dreaming, i tried to push things to the limit! for example.
flying into space
flying to the end of a dream, sounds strange
having wild magical powers, fly dragons,fighting in epic battles, i would also feel pain sometimes.
i've been shot, stabbed, burned,beaten,all sorts of things.
some of my dreams would seem to last all night, i would awaken tired, as if i hadn't had much sleep.
my dreams were so real i could smell and taste.
the best thing had to be flying! it felt so real. as i started getting older it became harder, i could'nt get as much height

i would love to share some of my best dreams with others like me. i've got some of my own views on dream control and what it all means. but it's only my personal opinion. i would like here someone elses?
i'm now 28 and rarely know i'm dreaming, the knightmares arnt as bad either.

So anyway yeah, I've only been reading on this stuff for about two months but I've read a hell of a lot and found that kids seem to find it way easier. It's actually surprising you kept the gift for so long, the people I've heard about with similar experiences to you lost it at about 12, so count yourself lucky.

You are perfectly capable of regaining all that dream control and constant lucidity you had but this time around you won't have it naturally. Read through the guide on this site which you've probably already done seeing as you're here, but it should answer all of the questions you've got there about regaining your lucid ability. I don't know for sure but I heard one tutorial say if you had lucid dreams when you were younger then regaining it is like digging a hole on the beach in the same place, much easier than if you hadn't done it yet. So you should have a fairly easy time.

The thing a lot of people get wrong around here (including me!) and which you'll probably be fairly prone to since you've had experiences already is PATIENCE. You can't just dive into it. Start with dream recall and make sure you're remembering 2-3 dreams every night before you move on. I tried to skip ahead, had one awesome lucid, then crashed and burnt, losing all my dream recall ability and having to start again.

im thinking w/ the whole being able to breath, smell, taste, and feel pain in your dreams is either super reality dreams or youve actually leveled up to the lower astral plane. which is great! i havent even been able to get up there.. but about the nightmares? mabey in a battle or something someone decided you needed to be punished... not sure seeing as im not you. but this is a highly likely possibility. think about it, did you meet someone with extreme powers that did not like you at all? mabey thats where they came from.

First off, I want to say: Welcome to Dreamviews!

You're quite lucky you could lucid dream naturally at one point, even if you can't now. A whole lot of people here would give anything to be like that. Patience and mind-set will really help you on your goals, just remember it takes more than one night to get something down pat.

First of all im glad to hear that there is someone out there that has lucid dreams similar to my own. I started lucid dreaming when I was about ten , maybe younger. I remember having a dream where my best friend and I were both there and I turned to him and said 'hey this is a dream , we can do whatever we want.' So being children we went around and distroyed things. I think I told my friends about it and since none of them could do that I thought that it was something that I have invented myself. I had many more dreams like that and it was so real at times that I would just walk around the dream and marvel at how real things were. I could feel wind on my face and sunlight. I would try to control things and found it to be possible at times when other times it was impossible. I would sometimes be able to make things dissipear or have magic powers. I never tried to lucid dream I would only do it once I was in a dream. I remember always being able to fly, I would use that to fly away from danger. I feels like swimming up from the bottom of a pool, which is different than most of the posts that I have read on this site. I am 22 now and I can still lucid dream.
About a year ago somthing started to happen which I still have trouble to describe. I would go into a kind of dream trance. I would be in my bed but I would not be able to move or open my eyes. At this time I did not have visual dreams it was only black. I would hear noises in my pillow and in the room where I was sleeping. This scared me so I would have to use all of my energy to break out of the trance. I would look around the room to make sure there was no one there. I remember hearing people call my name or yelling, only to break out of it and find nothing. Sometimes I would fight to open my eyes and see dark smoke in my room along the walls , once I saw en eye watching me on the wall next to my bed. I would hear things moving along my bed and feel the blankets and matress moving as if something was crawling up towards me. This scared me a lot and it would happen when I didnt want it to. It took so much energy to get out of I though that there was something wrong with my brain.
This went on for months until one night it started to change and I started to just let go. I knew that the noises were not real and finally stoped believing in them. I began to try falling off of my bed (which is reall fun) and fall-kind of like alice falling down the rabbit hole. Once I fell off the bed I would tumble slowely down flipping head over heels until I came up with an idea of where I wanted to be and the dream will usually create itself. I have had times where I feel into something that I didnt like. The most interesting thing about this is that while I fall I can still feel my bed and the blankets in my hands. I still have the dreams where I hear noises sometimes but it dosent scare me very much and I find that falling off the bed helps to make it stop.
You also said that you can feel pain in your dreams which is something that I also feel. I have been shot in a dream before and I cant help wondering if that was really how it would feel to get shot.
Anyways I would like to talk more and share about dreams with you since I can tell from reading your post that we have a lot in common when it comes to lucid dreaming. I am also new to this site but glad to find out there there is nothing to worry about when I ludid dream. Hope to hear from you soon.

no way! i can't beleive i've finally found someone who's experienced what i have!
i've spoke to a couple people on this site who have been really helpfull with the terminology which incedently i've never heard of ie WILD RC and a few others. but they havn't shared my dream control experiences?

i've never really looked into it, but i've always wanted to (if you know what i mean?) it's facsinated me for years and i've got a few of my own theories as to what it all means?
i've got so much to say, i could type for hours.....

i did the best friend thing to when i was younger, i would ask him the next day " was that you in my dream last night?" of course he wasn't.
it was so real at times! some of the strangest things i've done is
fly into outer space, it was cold, dark and vast!
i once wanted to see if i could fly to the end of my dream ( sounds a bit odd but hear me out) i flew for what seemed hours and hours. eventually i reached the edge of a forest which suddenly stopped. a kind of glass screen was in front of me which streched north, east and west as far as i could see. behind it was just a white void. it was breathtaking! i was only about 12 or 13 but i can remember as if it was yesterday!

i few times i've woken up from a nightmare walked into the bathroom and seen a demon or something in the mirror, then i would really wake up! sometimes this would happen 2-3 times, i was to afraid to get out of bed! (what a pussy!)

a couple of times i've woken up and felt something touch me and i've frozen in bed, very scary!.

i've got so many awsome dreams to tell, really out of this world! i've only ever told my closest friends who do believe me. i wouldn't tell anyone, sounds to weird. sometimes i find it hard to believe myself! i just wish i could still control them!
my dreams are still very real but as soon as i start to take control everything go's hazy. it's almost as if i shouldn't be doing it?
sometimes just thinking about the dreams i've had makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!

anyway i'll stop typing now as i'm probably boring the hell out of you!
i would love to here some more of your experiences, and if you've got any ideas of how i can regain my control? i'm 28 now and haven't had control for about 6-8 yrs. maybe 6-8 dreams i've had control. another thing when i was peaking my dreams would sometimes roll over from night to night like a continious dream and i was in total control

Welcome, I'm new too! I realized I didn't have normal dreams when I started sharing them with others at age eight. I can recall most of my dreams, I can fly, everythiing's so realistic, touch, taste, scent, colors. I remember dreams from when I was eight. Glad to see new members like me. I too, have dreams that are kinda likea "to be continued" and will continue the next night. That's so cool!

I had a bad dream, REALLY horrifying where I lost control when I was fifteen/sixteen years old. I'll never forget it but I vowed never to have my dreams again. I started freaking people out first off by sharing again, and then a dream I even have difficulty talking about. For about two years I slept never remembering a dream. When I started dating my current bf, about two years ago, I realized I was still having my dreams but purposly forgetting them I'd remember bits and pieces on accident but wake myself up. My bf and I had shared a bed after a few months of dating at Universal Studios (we stayed the night and actually nothing happened, we had a blast though). I fell asleep and I'd wake up because he'd be talking to me.

I'd have a comment or two but wouldn't really know what he was talking about then we'd stop and I'd go back to sleep. Then he'd wake me up again chatting. The next morning he said, "You talk a lot at night?" and I said, "No... I sleep at night" and he said, "You were talking a lot and I couldn't tell if you were sleeping or not. We were having conversations" I said, "Really?" and he said, "Yes, and I think you were dreaming because you were talking to me about unrelated subjects to anything we've ever talked about" and I said, "Like what?" He smiled and said, "Don't worry about it. You answered all my questions very openly and honestly too"

To this day, I don't know what I was dreaming about that night. I think it was about us and ever since then when I'd tell people I don't dream he'd say to me in private, "You do, you just choose to forget." That kinda freaked me out. I had never told him about my one dream at that time and instead of him beliving I was innocently not remembering he was onto the fact that I was avoiding them. Now he knows and he's always fascinated by my dreams and always thinks they mean something and hold some truth. He loves to be my interpreter. It's because of him though I chose to remember them again. It's still difficult sometimes. I've grown and matured a lot in the years I've been avoiding my dreams so my dreams are still the same in the fact that they're very realistic but they're about different subjects. The dream that deterred (sp) from dreaming again involved a lot of pain, suffering, and death. At that age, and to have it come out of nowhere, I was too freaked out. Now I still see things like that (my Nana dying currently, for example) but I don't take it into the perspective that I should be frightened. I dreamt of her dying well before she even got the tiny cut and illnesses that will be her demise. Well, maybe not WELL before, but about two weeks before. Freaky? Yes. Told anyone? Nuh uh. Still waiting on one final fact before I jump to conclusions and I'll let you all know how that goes. But I'm not running from those anymore.

I have happy dreams too. today I had one where I decided to take complete control, had lots of fun with my bf :D I've also had nice ones with my family, in very warm realistic settings.

It takes a while to relearn. Especially if you had a situation like mine where you were kinda tramatized by it, lol. I like it here though and hope you do too.

Ok I have a THEORY, and only a theory on why you were losing dream control as you aged. Also good job. A friend of mine has a really good dream control also. Anywho, my theory is that you have better dream control when your younger because as a kid, you don't really care what is and isn't real. So when you're in a dream, because you don't know or care, it comes more naturaly. This could be why you couldn't fly as high the second time you were talking about flying. Now this can be overcome, and it is somewhat hard to do. I was having troubles with this when I was day-dreaming (There may be similarities) I was trying to dodge a missle. (I know I can't spell,) yet I couldn't get my mind to see the image of me jumping over it. I kept replaying it and trying to change it, but it kept hitting me. After a couple of tries and a TON of concentration, I got the results I wanted. I later figured that the reason for that was that my logic was overriding what I wanted to imagine. It's sorta like being brain washed, that you have to try and overcome the years of learning what can and can't be done. When you learn these things (they're like drilled into your head daily.) it carries over to the dream world. So when you're trying to take control of your dreams when your older, it becomes harder if you haven't overcome your own logic that has been "Programed" into yourself. Hope this helps and good luck!

Hi, I've been serfing today in early morning and found this page, read it and went to the forum. I'am very happy to find out people like you exchanging experience. Actually first thing I had read was this of cornish guy. I'am in very same position as you man and this is my story. When I was a little boy I had nightmares like everybody but I figured out that if oneself start's to open his eyes in the dream (even the eyes are opened) you wake up. This was small but the very first step to be less afraid and move on. The first LD I had is conected with flying. There possibly were more LD's before that, however this, as Iam aware, is the first strongest memory. Iam standing on a bridge situated across some river. Strange thing is that its killometers above the water and it is huge. After better examining it seems that this bridge is actually some kind of city and I can see it from side. That is strange. It can't be real I told to my self. After "minutes" of analysing and with some fear left I jumped of in order to fly. Falling down I tried to concentrate to fly but nothing happened. Wierd thing was that closer I've been to the surface more confidence I had that I was dreaming and in worst case I will open my eyes in order to wake up (in that time I was still unconfortable with dieing...very silly, dieing is fun :). This gave me even more confidence and meters from "death" I managed to fly for the first time. However, it was very slow but it was the biggest step I've done. After that things started to be real fun- learning how to fly faster, with higher attitude, by myself or in machine, killing zombies, die in many different ways, fight with the most evil thing I could imagine (my favourite because I was kind of afraid but knew it wont harm me- I lost) be in wierd enviroments and unfortunately I remember relatively little what had happened. I know my spelling sucks (Iam from Czech rep.) and it is too long but couple more things: When I was around 18 years old once I could materialize objects with simple shapes like small pyramid and ball infront of my eyes, also materialize a sword in my hand and changing it. The wierdest thing happened to me was when I was waking up from LD. I opened one eye just a little bit but still was in the dream. I could see part of my room with window in the middle. Dont know why I started to imagine that a tsunami is comming to crash me (maybe was curious how does it feel to die this way). It happened. I could smell ocean and hear comming water more and more loudly. Then it crashed me and was squeezing like tomato. I was still looking into my room filled with violent vater. The feeling was so real, I can't describe it. After a short while all ended and I opened my second eye.

From that time I was trying to acomplish astral projection but without success. I have LD's but not as often and if, my level of counciosnous is low so I become lost. I want to return to LD's and learn to have better control and maybe somehow connect it with astral projection- my highest goal. LD and AP are not too far from each other and there has to be some technique which allows to go from lucid dreaming in a real world...

I, as well am new to this website, I have been lucid dreming since I was a young kid. It's very refreshing to finally find other people to talk with about the subject. The only person I have had up till this point has been my mother. (also a natural Lucid Dreamer, but never explored the possibilities.) I am 21 now and have been developing a story about Lucid Dreaming that I have just started to translate into book form. It's about a war between the Waking World and the Dream Realm, where the Nightmares have discovered a way to breach the barrier between our worlds and wreak havok among the Waking World. It's to in depth now to write in a single post, but this website has given me a plethora of creative influence.

In reference to my own Lucid Dreaming, I have to be in a good place in my life. I go for months at a time without them sometimes, this is a result of the Waking World being too busy and complicated. When I have some time to myself however and I am at peace with how my life is going, I can easily invoke the Lucids again. I believe that there is an irrevocable conection between our mindset in the Waking World and our own Dream Realm.

The Dream Realm is controlled and mastered in the same way that our Waking World is. In life, it is only when I am calm, collected, and have a clear vision of where I want to be that I can achieve my goals. This way of thinking has helped me increase my Lucid powers and achieve my goals in both worlds.

Keep dreaming and writing, this is a very powerful place to expand your horizons and share your experiences with other, like-minded individuals. And a shout out to whoever put this site together, it is a unique connection that could not have been possible without the comunication of the internet.

A problem that I have and am trying to fix is actually writing so much detail. You guys have no idea how detailed I can be and I can make very, VERY long threads to read. I've yet to bring myself to torture you guys like that. I had a good one last night. BUT... I'm really tired from work, lol. Maybe another time, it takes a lot out of me to write them down in such detail.

I will say this though, it took place in a Scottish graveyard and the main focus was how green the grass was (Weird, but I love green lol).

To me, my guess is that the glass barrier is there because your spiritual level is not high enough, so you could not go through that barrier. It is made of glass because your spiritual level is high enough for you to have a glimpse of the Ultimate --- represented by the white void in your dream. That white void sounds to me to be Clear Light (Tibetan Buddhist term), which is the ultimate realization of Buddhism --- the Buddha. This Clear Light has other names as well.
