How To Stop Floating Or Flying

in last nights lucid, i was in a field and decided to do a reality check. I pinch my nose and realize i can breathe through it, so i know im dreaming. For some reason i wasnt satisfied with that reality check though and said "well if im dreaming, i should be able to just float a little bit, then ill explore".

so i start floating about 4 feet off the ground, then like 30 feet in front of me. My plan was to just float 2 feet in the air then touch down on the ground again.

While i was floating all i wanted to do was touch down on the ground again, sit down and relax, maybe run my hands on the dirt and grass to increase lucidity, but i found myself still floating forward. finally i landed about 15 feet from where i was trying to land and i lost lucidity as soon as my feet touched the ground.

How can i stop floating and how can i aim myself to a location on the ground to land?

also, how can i train myself to stop using "floating" as a reality check? This isnt the first time ive floated after already knowing it was a dream. I dont really want to float around, i want to explore and shit.


this isnt the first time i floated a decent distance even though i just wanted to get like 2 feet off the ground then just land right back down.

Wow, that's weird. The reason you can't stop floating is because you doubt your abosulte control over the dream, so it backfires, my suggestion is to summon up some rocks on top of your feet to weigh you down.

As for the RC, try staring at your hands and/or pushing your finger through your hand, in a dream, weird things happen when you do both [might have extra fingers or your finger goes through you hand]

as far as my hands, yeah they act up in my dreams. lol in my 2nd lucid last night, i was in my friends passenger seat and looked at my hands. i only had 4 super fat fingers on each hand, and that triggered lucidity. So i told my friend "Yo jon, im dreaming!"

he says "yeah right how do you know?"

i said "look i only have 4 fingers" but as i put my hand in front of his face to show him, the pinky quickly grew out of my hand and my fingers werent fat anymore.

jon says "see your hands are normal"

but when i look at them, the pinky shrinks back into my hand and my fingers are fat again.

i put my hand in front of his face like 4 times, but my hand kept morphing back to a normal hand. weird.

Lol, that's weird. I hope that your new RC methos[s] work for you, that finger thing is pretty funky. Can you post on here your results of your next LD and if your RC[s] work? That'd be nice [I'm just a curious person].

but who knows when that will be, i dont LD too consistantly, but im getting better.

This shit happens to me aaaaaallll the time. It's cool every now and then, but it gets annoying.
Usually, when I'm doing anything like dancing in a dream, or sometimes when trying acrobatics, I'll start hovering uncontrollably. It takes a few seconds of focus to make me hit the ground again. I'd say the best thing to do, if you are already in the air and want to land, is look down at the ground and just imagine yourself suddenly walking on it. Don't think about anything else but how it would feel to be, that instant, walking on the surface that you were looking at. It should bring you down.

Congrats on the lucids. That sounds better than my problem of getting stuck in a room where I don't want to be. Want to trade? :deal: No advice except that now that you have recognized it as a problem, you can develop a plan for when it happens again. What I have been trying to do for my problem is that right before I open a door IRL, I try to imagine the scene I would like to step into, so I can try to remember to do this in dreams. I don't know if this might be self-defeating tho, since IRL the scene is never what I imagine it to be, so maybe my subconscious won't think that will work. Oh well I guess I'll try it for a while. Sometimes just talking about it can help. Good luck on yours.

Wow I envy you. and Oneironaut. I've never heard of that. I've always tried to stay in the Air a lot of times I just descend right back to the ground and sometimes it's like I'm leaping 40 feet into the air just to come right back down, sometimes it could be very frustrating. I say stay in the Air, don't come down. You spend all your waking life on the ground so take advantage of some of that Air time.

thanx O!!!!!!!! i had my 5th and my 6th in the same night, along with 2 non LDs i recalled. Thats a record for me for most dreams recalled in one night.


flying is cool and all, but i wanna feel some textures, take deep breaths and relax in a few lucids before i start flying around or fighting or having sex. i just wanna make the lucid last longer!
