in my lucid the other night, i stared at my hands for like 30 seconds. someone on here said that doing that will stabilize it (now i'm reading you should also rub them together)... it kind of did this. so i went outside and it was nighttime and snowing. it's almost always snowing in my LD's, which sucks because i like warm weather. i "wished" for nice weather and the snow stopped. but it was still nighttime (and still cold, by the way). is there a way to change this? i know you can't change light levels, is it because of that?

now i know you can also do spinning, and i'll try that next time. any other ideas? i'm trying to get to a particular place, so i tried flying there, but obviously it'd be much easier to just BE there.

one more thing... i've heard people say you don't feel pain in dreams. but i remember the first time i flew, i jumped through a window, and i don't remember it feeling too good. anyone else have that? so NOW, i just walk outside, which is totally boring.

recap:
-way to change from night to day?
-besides spinning, how to change locations
-feel pain in dreams?

y'all are awesome.

1) Scream. Scream like, DAYLIGT or something.
2) Close your eyes, and just imagine the scene infront of you. When you open them, you should be there, works for me..
3) Remember, it's a dream. NO PAIN!!

I find that there reallly aren't right and wrong ways to approach dream control. Basically, use your imagination and just try some things out. Some techniques may seem silly, but they just might work. Actually it's not that they "just might work," you need to remember that they WILL work.

A way to change from night to day?

-One idea is to use a light-switch. Just know that it will turn the sun on immediately.
-Make time go faster, possibly by looking at a watch and making the numbers move forward quickly until the sun is up.

Besides spinning, how to change locations

-Find a door, any door, and picture where you want to go. Then open the door and walk through.
-Phase through a wall into a new location of your chosing. Know that you will end up there.
-Find/make a hole in the ground/wall and jump through, knowing that you will end up where you want to go.

Feel pain in dreams?

I haven't experienced this much, though I have often felt physical sensations. My piece of advice would be to just relax. The pain isn't real, unless something is happening to you in real life, which is probably not life-threatening. Relax and allow the pain or discomfort to just flow away. It may take practice to get this down, but it's not impossible.

And sometimes new experiences/feelings can be quite interesting. Don't panic when you feel something new. It's your dream.

Indeed.

Just came up with another idea to the sunthingy. Threaten the sun and see what happens, might try that myself in my next lucid.

You can change anything you want, you just have to want it and more importantly, honestly expect it. This can be hard, which is why people make up excuses for accepting things. Like, perhaps I can't expect a dream character to just vanish into thin air, but I can expect to find a magic wand in my pocket that will make a dream character disappear if I point it at him.

I dont know if rubbing your hands helps stabalize dreams, but the feeling of movement does. But don't spin, it doesnt work well at all. Try swinging your arms violently, or jumping or running.

To change scenes, I agree a door might be easiest. Just picture where you want it to go before you open it.

Another method is to imagine where you want to be, then start moving around like you are there, ignoring the dream scene around you untill it fades away.

1. I turn away from a window and imagine the sun rising; it usually rises right before my eyes, it's very amazing.
2. I always spin, but once I concentrated really hard and changed outside to inside.
3. I only feel pain in non-lucids, but it's not really pain, just a general discomfort. (Like somebody poked me hard in the side.) Don't let pain get you down; jumping through a window is so fun. Try not to break the window, just phase through it. I find it feels like going through jello.

Think outside the box. If you approach the problem one way and fail, try the way you think won't work.

Walking through doors always makes things go black for me, and when that happens I usually wake up. I'm sure I could work on that, but I use other methods for now. One good method for changing scenery is to start describing the desired scenery to yourself, using actual words. You have to think about the visual images to describe them, and thinking about them is what will take you there. Trying to just flat out think about the scenery will make you think too hard about thinking, and you will get frustrated and maybe wake up. Near effortlessness is the strategy to go with in lucids. The harder you strain, the more awake you are. Remember that your goal is to stay asleep while aware.

Another good method is to start thinking about music you associate with the desired scenery. Don't strain. Just think about the music and allow (not make) the visual images to appear.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

its so good for a newcomer to the site to read all this advice - really helpful.

the last three, four times i have become lucid i have been swimming or flying in fairly unremarkable places and im finding it difficult to change scenery/do anything else. its pretty frustrating seen as the first few times i became lucid i could talk to people, and there were a million things to look at, touch, listen to and do. maybe my frustration in the dream is preventing any further control?

not sure but im gonna try some of the things said on this page so thanks everyone.

Interestingly enough, last night was my first time to be able to change the scene and I did it twice. I flew high in the sky and started to do flips in the air while thinking of the next scene. I did this without any prior knowledge on how to do it but has this worked for anyone else?

Close your eyes and wish yourself somewhere else. Always works for me. Always.

Spinnning. I love spinning,. Keepsmy lucids going for a long time.

Looking at objects, certain objects, keep me from losing my luciid.always look closely at things that are in my dreams.

As far as pain, I've felt it. I've been shot, been stabbed, been beaten, you name it. I've felt it. Weird, I know, but I enjoyed it...a weird kind of emjoyment,I can't explain itJust weird.
