Ok so this is what happened...I had my timer set to play that LucidRemix song at 5:00. When I was dreaming I heard someone say "I am aware that I am dreaming..." upon realizing that I was aware I was dreaming. But seconds later I woke up...so I turned off the radio and tried to go back to sleep...

Anyone know how I can keep myself from waking up after I realize im dreaming?

It just takes practice! My first several lucids were only seconds long because when I got excited I woke up. Once you realize your dreaming and feel it fading rub your hands together, or try dream spinning. The spinning doesn't work for me, but the hand rubbing thing works wonders. I hope this helps and good luck!

Was your radio recording playing over and over again? Maybe it was too loud and that slightly brought you out off your REM cycle , it is essential that you dont have it too loud, and excitement normally kills your Ld, so learn to relax to the dreamscape but yay! You were just THAT close! :yumdumdoodledum:

You didn't almost have a lucid.
      You had one.
You just awoke shortly after, which is a common thing in early lucid dreams, over time they will get longer in time, but there's always a possibility you are having your lucid song play too loud, so it woke you up.

This sounds sort of like what happened to me yesterday: I took a nap at 1 PM (I got up at 10) to try the NILD w/MILD technique and I was dreaming. As an RC I look at a lamp on the ceiling and try to turn it off. I succeed in dong so and become lucid, but after the lamp turned off, everything went dark and the dream started to fade!! I forgot to spin and stuff, so I ended up waking up. Not a good RC, FYI. This was also the dream that broke my 1 1/2 year dry spell!!

That makes me extremly happy! Its just when I had the dream I didn't think about rubbing my hands together or anything like that...but next time I'll try that. I don't have my radio set to loud. But I can try to lower it down some and see how that works...but I know what Im gonna try again tonight
