To wake up from the dreams spontaneously

Are you able to wake up spontaneously after every dream?
If so, here are 2 questions:

      1) How did you learn it?

      2) Do you do anything special to keep up this ability?
      Are you dreaming?

I rarely woke up after a dream and that was because I had a nightmare. I think I read this top somewhere, but not sure. What you could do when you are trying to go to sleep just keep saying "After a dream, I'm going to wake up" or "I'm going to wake up after every dream" or whatever and put feeling into it. See if that works and post results.

      Waking up on command...

Just thought I'd share my ability, after i saw this post...

I have the ability to wake up from a dream if I want to. I havent had to do it in a long time, since the only time i used to do it was if i was having a nightmare that was a bit too intense.

I used to have these nightmares where i was in some familiar places (eg. home, or school) the problem was my sight was virtually completely blackened out. There were shadowy figures that spoke in low tones and were very threatening.

What I would do is, first - realise this is a BAD situation and tell myself that i didnt want to be here.

Secondly (most importantly) I would close my eyes tight and almost roll my eyes back behind my eyelids. Then when i opened my eyes i would wake up instantly.

There was one time where it fooled me and i woke up into another dream where i was in my room on my bed. But after another quick roll back, i was awake.

However the nightmares stopped, and i havent had to use the technique in years now.

      Hope that helps.
In the begining there was flight...

Well I just tried what I suggested last night and I think it worked. I woke up around 5:30(went to sleep at around 2:30-3 ish) I don't remember what I dreamt at all though before or after that as a matter a fact. My dream recall sucks. I can only remember pits and pieces of different dreams for now.

Before i heard about lucid dreams, every time id have a nightmare i would have this feeling that "this is gonna be a nightmare" and id wake myself up.
This doesnt work anymore cause i havent had a REAL nightmare since learning about lucid dreaming. Hope I do, though, so i can go lucid and kill watever it is thats messin with me .

If by spontaneously, you mean "at will," ANYONE who is lucid should have that ability.

Usually an "end" of a dream is signified by some sort of physical/chemical change or level of sleep. I can usually wake myself anytime I want - in the middle of a dream, or at the end of a dream. Waking myself DURING a dream usually seems to take more energy for some reason and is more difficult, so I usually wait until a break happens, signifying an "end" or at least a change in my sleep state... I learned it through many many lucid dreams. (sorry that doesn't help -I guess I learned it subconsciously) I learned to pull myself awake during dreams to escape from nightmares.

When I had nightmares as a kid or just got sick of dreaming (which is strange, but it's the truth! ), I would blink and blink and blink until I woke up. Naturally, this induced numerous false awakenings, but it worked eventually. lol

I'll just add my two cents here

My one and only dream that I had a nightmare and was able to tell that it was a dream. At the very end, I was so frightened and I just wanted to get out of there and stop dreaming. I didnt have the will-power or the courage to destroy the evil things. So i closed my eyes and said "This is a dream and when I open my eyes, I will wake up and this dream will end" I said that with all my will-power and I ment that as if I were about to die. When I opened my eyes I saw beautiful warm colors beaming into my eyes as if I were going into some wormhole and then I woke up.

That was the only time that I forced myself to awake, so take that as you will...
