Angry Can't fly in some lucids

I can normally fly easily but lately i am having a few where i can't. I jump into the air and normally i am away but sometimes i just drop to the floor like last night.

Anyone else have this problem, and any ideas why it happens?

It happens to me sometimes. I think it's often tied to implicit expectations within the dream. If I don't think flying's going to work, it won't. Even more so with walking through walls. I'm more likely to think that won't happen or is going to be hard, so it's harder for me to complete the task than it is for me to lift off into the air.

A few dreams every now and then where you can't fly are no big deal, but building confidence might be the way around the issue. You can try saying to yourself, "But it's a dream! Of course I can fly!" And really believe it.

No dream goals at the moment...just flying and letting stuff happen is kinda fun, and it's hard to motivate myself to try LDing lately.

Thats the thing i always have great confidence i can fly but nothing, then once it fails i tell myself i can fly because i do it all the time but i still can't.

      It's frustrating.

Maybe you still think you can't, because it failed the first time. Maybe some deep subconscious part of yourself is expecting you not to be able to fly. Maybe because the dream is different in a critical way from dreams you're used to flying in?

It could just be some kind of random bug of the mind. Most of a dream is subconscious and random. Perhaps the inability to fly is like the sudden appearance of an eagle out of nowhere that you had nothing to do with, or the ambient lighting of a dream.

Is it mostly in DILDs or WILDs that you have the problem? Stabilization techniques aside, DILDs are often less controllable, especially if you have them early in the night, at least in my experience.

If you can't fly in a given dream, don't worry about it. It's still possible to do a lot of things, including accomplishing lucid tasks (as long as the task itself does not involve flying). I accomplished one of my personal lucid goals - using my neglected senses in a dream - without ever having flown. I just suddenly kind of "found myself" in a good setting for accomplishing my task shortly after becoming lucid. I probably walked out of where I was and into the new setting, more or less. Changing dream scenery isn't too hard.

flying for me has always been the "swimming-through-the-air" method. but sadly i've failed a couple of times too.
for some reason i find it usually works best indoors?

      it's cool for showing off

have you tried jumping really really REALLY high? (unsure of technical name)
sometimes that's a good method to try and get you used to the idea of flying.
