      opening doors into new worlds

      Hey everyone,
this is my first post here. I've recently started experiencing dream control and happened to find this site whilst searching for the topic on the net. My first experiences only lasted a few seconds (or so it seemed), and it started with me realizing that I was dreaming. Recently I've somewhat managed to prolong the experiences - I now know how to look out for telltale signs that I'm in a dream. Flying has always been one of my favourite things to do, and I've managed to become quite good at that
The other thing I can now do is open doors onto new locations...what I do mostly is think to myself that this door will open onto a beach, and voila, as I open it and step through I find myself walking on a beautiful beach.

What I'm working on now is people - how to imagine and then encounter people I want to meet. Ultimatley I'd like to meet myself (or rather, the personification of my sub-consciousness and have a conversation - finding answers within, or something like that.

Hopefully I'll be chatting on these forums frequently from now on, just thought I'd post my experience and say hello to everyone here.

      -Sam

Try using those same doors and tell yourself that such and such person will be on the other side. And welcome to Dream Views!

sounds like a good idea..for some reason I always related doors to locations but never people! I'll def try that next time, thanks!

Something I forgot to ask everyone in my last post - and maybe there's already a forum about that here - is whether anyone ever gets stuck in what I call a 'dream loop'. It happens to me occassionally, I want to wake up from my dream so I wake up, then realize its a dream, so try to wake up again and wake up, but realize its a dream, etc. etc. This usually happens when I'm really tired and fall asleep not intending to sleep...I can always tell if its a dream because everything feels too easy (i.e. no fatigue) and because I have bad eyesight and its always perfect in the dream without me wearing my glasses or contact lenses...those loops can get quite me quite panicked at times and sometimes they seem to go on for a very long time. Sometimes I think that I may be trying to prolong the whole thing on some sub-conscious level as I usually can bail out of dreams I don't have control over quite easily.

That's called a false awakening. Many lucid dreamers have those, it's quite common place. I don't have them though.
"Waking Life" is a movie with this. It kind of makes it seem creepy though. As far as them looping is concerned, try to stabilize it and you should have a pretty good quality lucid dream.

THis is called a false awakening(FA) and happens to everyone, all of the time. If you're catching these I would jsust try and continue enjoying the dream. Have you ever seen Waking Life? A good movie, about someone trapped in a dream who has lots of FA's throughout.

I swear me must have posted around the same time. Anyways, I bet you have FA's and dont even remeber. It's a common transition between dreams.

      impressive with the door technique

what i do for making people is just tell myself that they are around the next corner and most of the time they are sometimes they look exactly alike sometimes they are different than you expect
