      Changing the dream

I was just looking back at my dream journal from 1992. In one particularly long account, I realise I am dreaming part way through and then attempt to modify the dream as I had done many times prior to that. What I attempted to do was make a castle appear in front of me, in which I intended to explore. What did appear in front of me was a small toy plastic castle. As I approached it I realised it was a detailed model of castle and perfect in everyway, but it was tiny. I tried to make it grow in size but however much I tried it stayed the size it was.

Most of the time when I try something out it happens as I intended. Sometimes the same things works in one dream but not in another. For example, in one lucid dream I tried to make a rock burst into flame and it didn't, but I could quite easily fly in that dream. In another lucid dream I set a person on fire with my mind (knowing it was a dream of course), which seems very similar to trying to make a rock burst into flame.

It yet another example, I make a pack of cards float across the room to me. I then take out 3 cards and make them float across the room in a triangular formation. I then attempt to make all 52 cards float across the room in a wave like motion and this doesn't work at all.

Has anyone else noticed that sometimes you can change the dream at will, but sometimes it refuses to budge?

Yeah. One time I could change the dreamscape and make things appear really easily but not anything else, the next time I could do everything but that.

The only time i could change the dreamscape in any of my LD's was went i walked through a door, mirror, or walked around a corner, etc. I've never had that kind of control where i was able to totally just change the dreamscape at will

      bummer really...........

yeah, but for me the problem is self-confidence, but my dreams rarely go against my will

I tried to make a space ship appear but a small version appeared. So then I tried to shrink my self but it didn't work. Fortunatley the ship was operational and I pressed the propulsion and I started to move but holding on to the ship.

For me sometimes, I'll say "When I turn around, John will be standing there", but when I turn around, no one is there. So then I try being more specific "When I turn around, John Doe will be standing there" and then it works.
