How to control OBE-like floating?

Last Saturday morning I had my 5th WILD, and something strange happened...

I felt my dream-body separating from real-body first starting with the feet floating upwards, and then my knees, hips, torso, etc. It stopped very clearly at the neck and I was literally dangling for about 2 minutes just enjoying the peaceful feeling. :boogie: I did try to control the movement (up and down) and it seemed reverse psychology worked for it. :? When I said, "go up", my dream body started to come back down into my real body and when I said, "go down", my dream body started to go up again. The max point seemed to be when my head was still attached, and I attribute this to my pillow being a little too high that morning and it was providing a little more pressure under my head than usual...

I was quite conscious of my dream-body and real-body at the same time. I could see the ceiling (real eyes? or dream eyes?) but I couldn't see my dream-feet, etc. After a few minutes a real noise awoke me, and I floated rather quickly back into my sleeping body.

Does this make sense to anyone or has anyone had similar experiences? More importantly (and the reason I place it here in this forum) can anyone *control* this??? :uhm: It seems like something that one could have fun with! Any suggestions?

hmm... sorry! thats never happend to me! i came close to a WILD the other night, but nothing like that has happened to me... try asking Luminous or Neavo, they're pretty dream-keen! :D

I'd like to know too. One time I WILDed from inside a dream, and my new dream body wouldn't stop floating. I tried shouting, "Okay, GRAVITY!" but it didn't work and I couldn't get where I wanted to go. It might for you though.

Wow, that's an interesting experience. I can't say that I have had the exact thing happen. But My first WILD had a couple similarities. Here is a part of that from my dream journal:

I did the first thing that seems to come naturally for me in LDs. I flew out of bed and down toward the door.

So I did bounce up toward the celiling and back. But as soon as I was sure I was dreaming, I was able to move out of bed.

I have never had that same thing happen to me again when I have done WiLDs. So there is a chance that you will never quite be in that same situation again either. But if it does happen I would just think about my experience and how at the moment you are sure you are dreaming that you will have the power to just fly out of bed. Just expect it to happen. It usually works.

Hey man, my first lucid dream was like this.
My dream went from an LD, to An OBE
and I felt exactly what you felt.
I felt myself being pulled out of my body
followed by some weird electronical buzzing noises,
and after a while my alarm went off and i felt myself slam back down into my
body again and i felt the tingles hardcoreeee.

very cool experience i must say,
i hope i can learn to do this on a regular basis :P

thanks so much Twoshadows! i enjoyed reading your experience and i can see the similarities. it is interesting that it was your first WILD, and it is one of my first. it is something which i am happy to have done (although my previous LD -- which was my only DILD -- was the wickedest experience: running full throttle thru a wall in my house, like a borne ultimatum move!) and i hope i can do this floating OBE-like thing again. i am a firm believer that this feeling is completely made by (just as you said) the expectation for it to happen... no outside *force* doing anything, only me and my brain here! =) thanks again for the ideas! maybe i will try to keep my eyes more focused on the ceiling... cool!

hi mike. thanks for replying. yeah, it is wicked cool, isn't it? i experienced the feeling of joining the dream body with the real one twice. once was this thing, and the other was when i had a false awakening and i actually decided to just *throw* myself back into the bed face first. sick shit really.... :laughhard: maybe soon i will master this method of flying... :mwahaha: ...or at least do it once more! :bigteeth:

oh yeah the buzzing i have had in HI / SP sometimes and that can be fun too. it is thought to be linked with tinitus (spelling?) and the pseudo disconnected response of your brain from the typical input of the ear. either way... sick!

yea that buzzing business is reallly ineresting.
it makes the OBE thing seem so much more, intense
when you have this strange noise in the backround.
