I'm a little confused.

I've been trying to have lucid dreams for a few days now. I've noticed I’ve had lucid a lot of dreams long before I even attempted them and I've tried to control them but, I can't seem to. (There the only ones I remember) I noticed that it feels like I'm not really ever in the driver’s seat. I mean the person I see does feel like me but, I see it from a third person point of view and I can't control it. It's like I'm on a roller coaster and I can't control the path I go. My dreams are really vivid and I talk to people and when I touch things I can feel them it's like real life. I can even basically choose what I want to say, but it has to relate to what's going on. But, no matter how hard I try it's like something else is choosing what will happen next. Is this normal or is there something I'm doing wrong? :|

I've heard about it (there is even a youtube video of someones recreation of such a dream), but in all my lucids I am resonably sure that I was the one in control. I wouldn't worry very much though: you probably will learn how to control them in the end. I wish you peace and good health.

Well, that is a good idea, but most of my dreams are really impossible. Nothing really makes sense in them. They're all kind of just a mixture of ideas woven together attached to a basic story plot. A lot of the things that happen in my dreams defy nature and science all together. I just find it odd that in every dream I know who each of the people are. Not personally but, I just get the feeling I do. The only time I ever have dreams that make any sense is when it's about something I truly want...and when I have dreams like that it gets hopes up and then the outcome is the opposite of what I dreamt.

Don't give up. The logic center of the brain is inactive during dreaming, so it makes sense that most dreams... well... don't make sense.

Just keep trying. Stay optimistic. Anyway, nonsensical dreams means creative dreams - and they can be quite fun :)

Lots of people get discouraged by the vagueness of some lucids - but these aren't full lucids. A complete lucid is where you're pretty much fully conscious, and the ones you describe obviously aren't there yet. Don't loose heart.

Yea, thanks for the encouragement. Most of my dreams I think don't make sense because, I am a very creative person, but I can't get any of it out on paper and when I try to imagine things my mind kind of blocks 80% of the image. But, I always have things going through my mind and so many ideas. That's kind of why I want to learn how to have lucid dreams. My mind kind of blocks me from seeing most images while I'm awake and I hate it. Hopefully I'll figure this out and I can actually see the things my mind creates clearly....*sigh*

i have had some dreams from the 3rd person but it has never been a lucid one. Pensive is right, there are different levels of lucidity and it varies in certain dreams. if you are new to lucids, it will be hard to get a very high level of lucidity. but even the pros have lucids where they can't control much. i guess my advise is just keep dreaming. and maybe if you find yourself in that same situation try to stop everything and take a breath. then maybe close your eyes (but be careful for some people this wakes them up (for me i rub my hands with my eyes closed just to keep in the dream (and yes, i did have a parenthesis in a parenthesis))). now if i could only spell parenthesis...anyhoo, after closing your eyes just picture opening them and being in 1st person view. again this will only work if you are lucid enough.

Yea, I'm new at it. *frowns* I just need to get a book or something and read on it more so I can figure everything out. Thanks for the advice. ^__^
