Spinning... is it really that simple?

is spinning as simple as just turning around like a child? or does it take practise and lots of mental strain like everything else?

for the people who have success with spinning, did it come straight away?

i'd like some ideas so next time i'm lding i have a better chance of this working.

You got it, spinning is as simple as turning like a child. I tried it several times and it worked. The dreamscape either changed or stayed the same with out fading any further. I rely on rubbing my hands together now for maintaining the dreamscape.

WHen I spin in a dream it doesnt feel like spinning like a child because I dont use my legs. I just magically spin onn an axis. Its relly cool, because I can start spinning really fast like this. The few times Ive tried it, its worked really well.

it didn't take much mental training for me, worked first time i tried it. when i do it it's not like turning like a child, it's more like a tazmanian devil spin. really fast... it's a cool feeling though

I think i'll have to experiment a bit, it seems it varies a lot. I think i'll try spinning a bit supernaturally, and a bit from my own ability. Sort of like the tasmanian devil... that should be an easy thing to copy, seeing as i'm from tasmania

rubbing hands sounds easy, maybe i'll switch to that instead.

You can spin or i like to touch dream objects or my dream body. Find what works best for you, the thing that makes spinning or any other tecnquie work is that it gets you to focus on the dream world and no the waking world. Use your different senses, try touching something, or looking at the ground and noticing the grass, rocks, that sort of thing.

I find I can only spin once. Ive never had a LD but I have come very close and get into a state of trance.
My whole body spins and spins and I actually feel like my bed I'm on is spining. It then slows down. But I am unable to do it again in the same dream.
I have to wake myself up then dream again to do it.

I used to think spinning meant squatting and staring at an object then getting up (everythign becomes clear) I suppose I get it from metroid (called spinning when you squat and re-enter your run) But seriously if spinning dosent work concentrate on somthing really hard (keep your eyes moving) Try what works best!

i think i'll try the looking at objects and using senses for increasing clarity, spinning for prolonging the dream and changing scenes..

*waits for a chance to use them...*

It's all about the spin !!!
Even if I think there's no possible way i won't wake up
i keeep spinning and keep fighting
and i'll even feel like i'm in my bed sometimes...
but don't let that trick ?
i just keep spinning and fall back in
I've done the spin like 10 times in dream to stay in... .

i don't find it works as good when i spin too fast ?
      i duno though eh
      cha ?

Hopefully I'll get to the point where i won't have to spin,
and be able to just stay in
It's a lot of work ye know !?
      haah

spinning has never worked for me the times I have tried it... well not worked very well. I've found that shouting out something to the effect of "lucidity now" or "increase lucidity" or "clarity now" works pretty well. It doesn't seem to always work, but when it does, it works very well for me.

I tried spinning 3 or 4 times. It didn't work once out of those times. but i HATE spinning. Because everytime i did, once i was in the new dream setting, i would lose lucidity.

It didnt work once though for some reason..it might've been because i was tryign to spin with someone(i wanted that person to be in my next dream setting

Sounds liek it is because youre trying to spin with someone. The whole point of spinning is to whirl the fadign image fo the dream into a new world, and it might be hard if youre trying to hold onto pieces of it, but not the rest. But at the same time, I bet it is possible to spin iwht someone. Maybe just more difficult, especially if you havent gotten it to work before.

i've got a feeling it would be possible, too...if you concentrate on changing the enviornment, but also concentrate on holding the "item" in your hands, you should be able to bring it with you

i tried spinning two times but it didn't work. in both times spinning woke me up. on the second time, it was dark before i spin, and while i was spinning it became totally dark, and the spinning won't stop by itself. when i try to stop it i woke up.

many years ago i was able to change the scene by just focusing on it looking at one direction, and when i turn around it would change. but that was the only time when i consciously tried to change the scene.

i will try to touch some objects next time. the attitude required to control the dream seem to be a very delicate balance between believing that i am dreaming and believing in the dreamworld.

yeah I figured that was the reason why it didn't work...

      NO NO
      The reason the spin works
is because it's giving u a feel for your dream body..
      ye know ?
u start spinning, your using your legs , arms.. everything
it keeps your dream body grounded.. basically keeping the parts of your brain that deal w/ dream consciousness exercised
as far as taking someone or something w/ u...
it depends when u start spinning.. .
if u start spinning right away, as soon as u start to feel the dream world slipping away, then the scenery prolly won't change and u can hold on to stuff or people..... .
but if u start spinning too late
then the scene may change.. or u might get back but forget your dreaming.. . . . .
so try to spin as soon as your lucidity dims

      It reminds me

this kind of reminds me of the movie the mask. the guy puts on the mask (falling asleep), then he starts spinning really fast (he's doin the spin thing and changing dreams), and he stops and everything pretty much changes (thats dreaming), when he takes off the mask and he's back into reality (thats waking up). You see my point? think of it like that.
