Hallucinating While Thinking it was a Dream?

I had this happen to me this morning, and also another time. I woke up after a small chain reaction of false awakenings, and plugged my nose. Though, the moment I plugged my nose, I was breathing. The odd part was, I felt like I plugged my nose, but I didn't actually plug my nose. It was like, I somehow tricked myself into thinking I plugged my nose.

I have had this happen another time. I am so confused whether or not if it was a dream, or a hallucination. One thing is for sure, I was scared. I kept having non-stop false awakenings. It would not stop at all. It got to the point where I was asking if I was ever going to "wake-up". Though, when finally I woke up, I was completely stuck. I forced my way to sit upwards. I touched the wall and my hand looked different. It didn't look like a hand hand. It was like a weird glow. When I touched the wall it felt cold. Though, I was getting scared because I felt stuck. I tried to go back to sleep, but it wouldn't let me, and I kept trying to get up. I got so scared, I started to say help, but I couldn't speak, it was like my voice was dying away. Then, I started seeing this thing popping out of nowhere. It was showing someone talking to another person. I got so scared, I tried reaching out and everything, and then all of a sudden everything came back to normal. My eyes were wide open the whole time. Was I hallucinating, or was I somehow dreaming while my eyes were awake? Know any ways to stop it, cause it is so scary when it happens. >.< It is like worse than the weird demon/alien/monsters that say stupid stuff to me.

Well it could be an FA, but sleep paralasys was disscipating, so when you sat up your real body did, and eventually when you opened your dream eyes you opened your real ones too, and then really woke up. Or it was a hallucination.

Maybe, when I woke up, I was still dreaming, but the same time I was actually awake. So, during all that time, I was dreaming and awake at the same time? Does that even make any sense? Could it last that long? >.<

It could be like one of those desert hallucinations. You know, where you get so hot etc, that you start seeing things. Ugh, I can't figure it out >.<!

the closest ive had to something like this is while staring at the wall or something and having it start to change color. if someone were under the influence of hallucinogenics they can see things changing while awake, perhaps youve allowed your mind to do something like this? how about when you have been awake for way too long, this is when i begin to feel as though i am dreaming while awake.. i have seen things and zoned out and still been sitting there with eyes wide open

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia

I second that it is hypnogagia. My mother has a sub-set of this called hypnogagic phenomonon and it is pretty crazy... You should probably get it diagnosed. Not to scare you but if it is hypnogogia it can lead to visions where you are moving your body around but have strange thought-patterns and pre-concieved false notions about where you are. Imagine using dream logic in the waking world.

It only happens when I'm extremely tired in my bed. I have never had a hallucination when I was awake walking around. Ok, well, I did one time have one but it was because after an extremely long trip, where I had barely enough sleep. Sounds like it, I also sometimes will wake up to hearing sounds and voices. lol, One time, I was cussing in my head at the last voice to shut up xP. They only happen when I just wake up/still in bed. I have never had them while I was wide awake, and walking around. Though, I think I might know what caused all of this. Ever since I was little, I used to just stare into things and wait for it to move around, and I'd see all kinds of colors. I also was extremely imaginative, that's where I got my creativity from. I'll look at objects like say a wall of bricks. I used to just connect the bricks until I actually saw something else than just a wall of bricks. Though, it was still a wall of bricks, it was just I connected the dots into seeing something else, like a face(not a real real face, but like a face).

They only happen when I'm tired too. Before I knew about lucid dreaming, I would see shadows running across the room in the corners of my eyes. One time, I even saw a dream-like smoke puff out right by the leg of a chair. Shortly after, I went to bed, as this is a sign to me that I need sleep.

Yea, I saw shadows too when I was really deprived of sleep usually it is at the corner of my eye. One time, I actually saw a hallucination of a shadowy person. It was freaky Dx. I was extremely tired that day.

I'll still do stuff like that, too. Brick-like patterns seem to work the best. Patterns on the floor of some department stores work well too, or designs on some carpets. Stare at the corner of the room/ceiling for example, and allow darkness to spread about the room, or allow the corner to appear like it is pointing outwards towards you. This one pattern that I remember on the toolbox out in the back of a truck at work, if I allowed my eyes to re-focus as if the object was further or closer away, the patterns would match up on top of each other and the entire thing would appear like it was in a 3-d movie or something jumping out at me - this example is more like them magic eye things though just allowing the eyes to re-focus.
