When I realize my dream is slipping b/c I closed my eyes, I open them as fast as I can start rubbing my hands together and I can usually save the dream.

And make sure it's not a false awakening when you close your eyes...

It's happened to me more times than I can remember even while I am lucid. I do not know what causes it. However since most of the things we do in dreams do usually have some physical impulses on the actual body (whether or not it reacts to them is another question). So I am guessing when we close and open our eyes in a dream there is a % chance that our actual eyes may react to this. Sadly causing you to wake up. So yes, potentially in not opening your eyes you could cause your dream to go on longer without chance of defunking causing you wake up.

So don't blink. It's not like you need to.

I don't wake up when blinking, generally, actually use it to stabilize a dream, tough if it fails and instead I wake up, just use the chance to DEILD and enjoy the dream until blinking is done again lol

Blinking never even seems to cross my mind while I'm LDing, but I don't think I blink during them anyway. I have had many dreams that just tend to fade and it's as though I'm blind in my LD. So, if you close your eyes, you might just want to use your other senses (ie feel your way around the dream, makes some noise) and eventually the dream visuals will come back (but not always ).
