Question Problems with visual clarity while Lucid

After practicing and thinking about lucid dreaming for a couple of months I have started having semi-regular LD's. I have had four since November 18, which is about one a week.

In my very first LD I experienced amazing visual clarity. It was like emerging from a tunnel into the real world. But in every LD since then the visuals have been very obscure and disappointing. I can feel my body, but I can't see properly.

The last two dreams were particularly frustrating. In both dreams a strange white light got into my eyes and made it impossible to see anything. The first time it happened after I closed my eyes while trying to change a pig into a man. The second time I was running into darkness and I wanted everything to get brighter.

Does anyone have any advice that could help increase the vividness and visual clarity of my dreams, or is it simply a matter of experience and practice? I tried shouting, "increase lucidity" or "lucidity x1000" and that didn't seem to help very much. I also tried spinning and that got rid of the white light, but I lost lucidity in the process.

I am happy to continue practicing and will try spinning again, I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced similar problems and could offer any helpful advice.

I'm having similar problems, the first two times I had an LD was doind reality checks durind regular dreams , I had pretty good visuals, and I could even fly in the second. I havent have any of those in a while. Now I started experimenting with the WBTB method and found myself, also in a very dark environnement, and when trying to shout clarity my voice feels strange and loose lucidity. Rubing my hands increased the lenght of the dream but not the lightning.

Dreams are tricky in the sense that if you focus too hard on a specific action, you'll lose focus on the surroundings and the dream destablizes. (Either you wake up or you lose visual clarity, or lose yourself back in the dream)

You'll find that the vividness of a lucid dream will vary from dream to dream, but you'll get alot more clarity when you relax and observe and try to make small changes at first, or if your having a dry spell, just relax on the intensity of the control you impose on it.

For me flying was tricky, I could fly no problem the first moment I knew I was Lucid, it was flying too fast or too high, focusing only on the act of flying that would "Destabalize" everything else because I'm not paying attention to anything but that.

The sheer excitement alone from the sensation of flying would originally wake me up, but over time I realized that you lose detail and clarity when you rush something like that, so I started just floating around and that stablized things a bit. Not always, but it helps.

Okay thanks. I think I will try to slow down and observe my surroundings more in my next LD then. It's true I have had a habit of rushing around and focusing on the physical sensations.
