Bad Control
The past month or two I've had a number of dreams in which I am very lucid, if only for a couple minutes. However, my control sucks. Yesterday I had another lucid dream (That I forgot to properly stabilized but still lasted around 6 minutes) in which I was near a large building with stairs that lead me away from the building and into a number of gift shops. The entire time I went around trying to control things. I tried a number of methods and failed with each one. I tried the "just do it" method and I just couldn't do it. I tried that whole logical reasoning thing, where I thought "This is a dream. Therefore that is not a car, it is a thought. I can't move a car, but I can move a thought," and that failed too, and made me lose some lucidity. I tried just forcing it and I think that's what woke me up.
Can someone give me another way to control things, or tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I use assumption. I am going to assume when I turn around, Bob will be standing behind me. I assume that when I open this door, I will be in Alaska. The logical reasoning thing worked for me :/

Thanks guys. I'm gonna go try that.

If I want to, say, move the car in front of me, I have to actually stick out my hand and direct my desire that way. Once, when I became lucid, I thought to myself, okay I'm gonna pretend that I have telekinesis and I will move some stuff by waving my hand. My dreamself knew I was pretending and I didn't really expect it to work, but lo and behold, I had given myself telekinesis. I remember being pleasantly surprised as it kept working.
