      Talking in dreams

I've sometimes been brought out of a lucid dream when I start talking and I can hear myself. I realize that I might be talking out loud in my sleep and I awake. I've never actually tested this by recording or asking someone else in the house if they've heard talking. Has anyone experienced this before, and if so does taking in lucid dreaming equate to talking out loud in your sleep?

talking in sleep as actally quite commom, most of the time its not full sentences but rather mutterings of words. It would be intresting to record someone dreaming and talking in their dream.

`Take some more tea,' the March Hare said to Alice, very earnestly.

`I've had nothing yet,' Alice replied in an offended tone, `so I can't take more.'

`You mean you can't take LESS,' said the Hatter: `it's very easy to take MORE than nothing.'

i thought it would be mumbling but the more experiences I've had with lucid dreaming the more I realize that they're actually full blown sentences. Once I was reciting versus of religious text in a melodious voice and it was almost as if i was doing it in real life. See, the thing is I suspect that our precepts in lucid dreaming are different. So what makes sense to us in a lucid dream ends up being translated to mumbling out loud in real life. I might just try to keep a recorder and test out my theory.

I woke myself up by singing very loudly before. I woke a few other people up as well...it was interesting to see them standing over me when I woke up mid verse... "Shot to the heart and you're t....holy shit, was I singing in my sleep?"

And good laughs were had by all!

LOL. That's a story to tell the kids one day! Were you in a lucid state prior?

prior...erm...no, actually I had been drinking the night before and I think I passed out singing the song then it continued to play throughout the dream. Maybe not a story to tell the kids?

Every time I cry in a dream, I cry in real life. Kinda weird... I have once or twice woken myself up by yelling during dreams.

what ive found out that makes me wake up when im in a lucid dream is when i talk with to much emotion in my voice. as for example i had a lucid dream a few weeks back where i was trying to save my friend from some unknown attackers and in the commotion he got caught and i yelled to the attacker "LET HIM GO!!!" and woke up screaming the same words. its happend a few times b4 and all in the same context of me haveing to much emotion behind my words. but after that night i realized y ive been waking up from my dreams. so now when i get to a lucid dream i try not to yell or get to angry or even sad becuase usually those emotions become to strong and overwhelming that they pull u right out of sleep. it may sound hard to do to controll ur emotions while u sleep but as long as u have lucidity u should realize that its only a dream and nothing to get to upset over.

This has never happened to me while lucid. Just the other night I had one where I shouted "High level lucidity!" two or three times and didn't wake up. I'm pretty sure I didn't do it aloud because I didn't wake my wife either. I've also had a lucid where I was singing and I didn't wake up from that. I have however, had a few non-lucid nightmares where I yell in fear and wake up yelling, though it comes out much quieter when awake.
Tonight's the night. And it's going to happen again, and again. It has to happen.

I sometimes wake up humming/singing under my breath it's normally some sort of new song I've listened to and really liked.

I can't speak in my dreams...I seem like I'm just mentally connected to everything, so all my words are assumed and replied to before I speak...

When i was under the age of 10, i was sleeping in the attic and my sister was there, and while i was sleeping i was dreaming of these two girls tickling me, and the next day my sister said that i was talking in my sleep and that i was saying, "Get off of me you..." That's the first, only and last time that i've ever spoke out loud while sleeping.

I often worry that what I am doing in my dream, I might be doing in my real bed, and that kills all the fun. Once, I think I woke myself up with my own sobbing. As I slowly came awake, I had the vaguest memory of hearing a strange wailing in real life, and with my pillow wet and all the sobbing I had just been doing in the dream, I'm pretty sure I was crying out in my room.
I just read (maybe on this site?) that talking/mumbling in ones sleep doesn't happen during the REM stage but a deeper stage, and therefore doesn't reflect ones dream. I dunno if that's true.

I find that I have two dream voices

in one dream voice, everything is normal, I hear my voice as normal - I can scream, sing, ect and I never worry its being translated into real life. but there was always something about this voice that feels different

and its the second voice that sorta explains, a few times, when I spoke - I could feel my voice coming out of my voice box. because the feeling was so physical, I assumed someone can hear me in the room

      I dont wake up

I just lower my voice until the physical feeling of the voice goes away, and I just hear my voice instead of feel it

no idea if this real or not no one at home has complained about me sleep talking yet

      Talking Dreams

Dreams are confusing sometimes but I agree with the setting up a recorder. But I was dreaming and I notice I do talk in my dreams and out loud. Luckly my door was shut

I talk often in my sleep. I've only been lucid a couple times my whole life though.
One time, I woke myself up because I was praying in my dream and said it out loud. I frequently wake myself up when I talk in my sleep.
Other sounds wake me up at times too. Once a heard the rattling of a bag and nearly fell- I had actually been walking in my sleep and stepped across a Wal-mart bag that had fallen to the floor

lol! I've been sleep walking too. Once my cousin had come over so I had lented her my bed and I was sleeping in a sleeping bag in another room. I sleep better when I'm not in my dream even though my bed is more comfortable so I never miss the oportunity... anYways, as I was sleepwalking I brought my sleeping bag in my brothers' room and placed the sleeping bag in a corner and went back to sleep where I had been sleeping the whole night. Then I woke myself up 'cause it was really not comfortable to sleep on the flour...!

In my first lucid dream i looked around, paused, then said "woah"-which woke me up

so it only lasted a few seconds
The creature laughed, scornfully. "I," it said, "am afraid of nothing." "Nothing?" "Nothing," it said. "Are you extremely afraid of nothing?" "Absolutely terrified of it," admitted the dragon. "You know, I have nothing in my pocket, would you like to see it?" "No," said the dragon, uncomfortably, "I most definitely would not." There was flapping....and Charlie was alone of the beach.
"That," he said, "was much too easy."
