      Being controlled

Ok, just a couple questions. There's this one occasional problem I have and I've been wondering if there's a way around it. Usually when I get a LD I can control it and do whatever I want (except for a degree the dreamscape). Btw, 1) any advice on controlling aspects of the dreamscape would also help if that's possible?

      2) I noticed sometimes when I wake up in a lucid dream it feels like my subconscious is trying to force the dream on me especially in the case of violent lucids. This doesn't usually happen, but I'll give you an example. I'm trying to control the dream and do whatever I want like let's say exploring some old ruins. Then out of nowhere something might start attacking me. I can obviously fight back or come up with a way to deter it, but then the dream will come up with something else to stop me from doing exactly what I want (lets say flying around the ruins or going under the walls). Like, I'll start lifting up and then some ogre will show up and pull my leg down lol. It's still cool and fun but it keeps trying to get me to stick to the dream theme in these cases and I want to do my own thing. Any advice?

I know what you mean. Sometimes it's not just a "mind over mind" thing, not just a mental barrier. I wrote a tutorial on it, but never posted it (and later, lost it). Basically, try approaching the problem in a different manner. If you can't solve the puzzle, glitch the game. Try different ways, and don't get stuck on it. If you spend more than five minutes trying to reach the other side of a wall...

I say, go do something else completely. Why waste the rest of the dream? Go do another goal.

Ya, I know what you're saying but it's hard to do something else some of those times. I try leaving to do something else and then this random thing is attacking me even if I ignore it. I guess maybe I should just like stop fighting it altogether and just let it hit me or something lol.

I guess I should throw this in there too.

      3) Maybe it's just me, but do you guys ever get when you try to scream or talk and nothing comes out? I hate that.

Just trying to address any problems I've been having.

Most of the time (98&#37, I can talk, shout, walk, and run normally. It's usually the superpowers that falter (going through walls, flying, teleporting). My superpowers will cycle (one month, I couldn't phase through walls. Last month, flying was strenuous.).

At the times where I can't do something, usually it isn't because of a dream character, but simply the situation being stubborn (the walls being stubborn, the laws of physics being stubborn). If it is a monster trying to stop you, I'd talk to it. It helps more than fighting.

Ya, that's what I meant... 98% of the time it's fine it's just those random occurrences. It just pisses me off that your subconscious seems to purposely be trying to make you uncomfortable and nightmarish even when your mind knows that you are trying to turn it into a good dream. I noticed the abilities thing happening sometimes too. I think that happens when you even slightly question the possibility of things (ie. normally you can walk through walls but you'll try to and think about it and just bump into it). That's usually not a problem for me.

Don't get me wrong, the majority of the time I have near perfect control and really good usage of abilities. It just seems to happen when I sort of "start the dream in a really bad situation" and am trying to escape it.

I think the talking thing is a really good idea though since I've done that by coincidence before and it did seem to work. I'll make a mental note to do it next time.

I wonder that question you asked too. Why does our subconscious tend to make things hard, uncomfortable, and nightmarish? Life can be challenging enough as it is

As far as changing the environment... Hmmm... I don't recall any techniques. I know that if I want day to turn to night, I'll go into a place with no windows or look at the ground and imagine a shadow being cast over it and sure enough, it does. And when I look up, night has fallen. Dreams have an easier time turning 'sour' than they do brightening up.

Ever point your finger at an object and concentrate real hard on setting it a blaze?

I remember one time I was in a dream, in a residential area with new homes, etc. There were cars parked at the curbside and I wanted to try something. Something that popped in my head from thinking about it during that day. I reached my hands toward the sky and thought of a meteorite. I focused really hard and swung my hand down pointing at a car. Sure enough, a meteor burned down from the sky into a meteorite and smashed the car.

Haha, ya sweet. Thanks for the advice. I think it works best like people have said alot of the time when you don't try to have full active control. Like if you were staring up at the sky and just hoping for the meteor to come you might be stuck waiting but the fact that you looked away and pointed at the car and imagined you had the power made it more believable and let it happen.

Yeah, exactly! It's always easier to have things come into play 'out of sight'. Like... The times when I thought to summon a car to get me out of a jam (if I were running away from something outside by a road or huge, vacant parking lot) I would snap my fingers or imagine having a beeper/pager in my pocket and that when I pressed the button a car would be summoned. It worked ALL the time so far. I'd hear the exhaust of a loud V8 (with exhaust work) in the distance. I am usually pleasantly surprised by the car that comes racing over. It's usually a Mustang, because I have a thing for those. They never break down in the dreams Real life? That's another story.

The best way I've found against someone trying to attack you is just to stop anything your doing, watch the thing/person and look at them neutraly then say "Wait, I have to go on the other side of that wall. Do you want to come with me?"

I have never tested yet, but try it, it can't hurt!

I usually ignore or befriend these things.

If it were me, and I were in a ruin, and I tried to fly but an ogre grabbed me, I would (if I had adequate dream awareness and lucidity) say something like "Bob! I can't believe I forgot you! But it will be no fun if you hold on to my leg! Here, take my hand let's go flying!"

Usually this sort of rational gets me out of any such situations and makes them hysterical and light-hearted, rather than anxious and negative.
