Need to work on dream control

Hi all,

I've been reading this forum for a few days, and really enjoying what I've read and learned from many of you. Seems like a really cool place.

Anyway, this is my first post, and what I've really been struggling with for the past couple years is improving my control within lucid dreams. I have them fairly often, and in fact this morning I had one that lasted a pretty long time, however all I could really do was fly around. I'm never able to really control my environments at all, never able to transport myself anywhere or summon anything. I can move around pretty easily but thats about it.

By the way they're always DILDs, ive only ever had one WILD.

SO in a nutshell my two main problems are, I can't control my environments in an LD, and also I have trouble hanging onto the dream once I become lucid, I usually wake up within a minute or so.

Any thoughts?

I'm having the same problems, actually. It might be due to my usual lack of sleep but that should end in the next days.

I closed my eyes and thought of the place I wanted to see and then opened them again in the LD and the scenery around me had changed. It was kinda still the same structure (it was a BIG open space room) but the scenery had changed. It went from a normal big room to a big room with a snowy landscape.

Man, this TOTALLY works. Excellent advice, thanks.

Using a door as a portal to a new location works well for me. I've entered a sort of "multi-dimensional office building", with every door a portal to another location, whether inside the building or two a different reality or place within that reality. A very trippy place to be, but it brought me wherever I wanted to go.

i close my eye's and spin around 3 times but the main thing you need to do is RELAX if u get xcited u will lose focus and stability!

For me, speaking out loud in the dream really helps control things. If I really want something to happen (like a scene change or increasing clarity) "commanding" the universe around me really helps put it into action.
I also feel like it kind of stabilizes my being in the dream state, which would help if you're having problems with waking up too early.

Spinning has always really helped me to stabilize my dream surroundings.

And remember not to get excited because you're lucid, when that happens to me i also tend to wake up w/in a minute or so of the dream. Maybe you should try another technique? Being that you said most of your lucids are DILD's, it may be that you're recognizing that you're in the dream too late into your dream period. If that's the case, I recommend the MILD technique: If everything goes right, you'll be lucid immediately into the dream.
