      Portals

I'm sure there are many threads about this, but I'm just too lazy to search, right now.

This morning while lucid, I tried changing my surroundings by using a portal. It was the bathtub, don't ask. It didn't work. I tried climbing through the attic door seeing if I could use that, and it didn't work. Finally, I decided to jump into my garden (which right now is bare), and see if I would sink into the dirt and find myself in a different place, it didn't work.

Most of the time I use a door to go to a different place. I'll open the door and, bam, I'm there. But lately, it hasn't been working. So, I've been wanting to try portals, since I've read on here that a lot of people use them as a means of transporting to different places.

What is it you do when going through a portal? What do you use as a portal? Is there something else I need to do besides say "When I go through here, I'll be at (wherever I want to go to)"? I just need some ideas on how to make it work.

Believe? I just pass trough the portals walking, running, jumping or however the situations demands it. What I use as portals is some kind of door in circular form I create from organic materials. I don't say anything, just know that it will take me to where I want to go, so belief I say lol

Of course dif things work for dif people <.<

If you want to use a Portal...

then try out the game Portal and then the rest is pretty self explanitory...

But yeah, it's really all about believing about whats going to come out on the other side.

I hold up my hand and grab my wrist with one hand, I then shoot a portal out of my hand that maintains itself infront of me and proceed to walk through instantly teleporting me to my desired location. I am the master of my own realm as it were.

That sounds like a fun way to move around. I used to do something like that when I was little. There was some cartoon that used portals to escape.

Is it a PC game? Where would I find it?
I guess I could go google it.

I'm not much into video games, but it might be worth a shot.

I remember the Animaniacs way that was described by someone as well where you bring the whole dream scenario to a very small opening and then expand it again and crawl through the hole or something to that effect to change the dream scene.

It's a PC and Xbox 360 game. I highly recommened it to anyone. It's a family fun game with little blood in it. There is no fighting in the game, it's all just a giant puzzle game.

If your not into gaming, then I suggest getting it for the Xbox 360 as I'm guessing your computer isn't built for gaming...if you have a 360 that is...

      I don't. My son has a PS2.

I tried using a mirror as a portal, and it almost worked. I watched a movie with my kids, the other day, where the guy used a mirror as a portal. He touched it with his hand, and then it turned blue and he went through it. So, I tried doing the same thing. But, once I went through the mirror, everything turned black, and I woke up.

I guess I'll just keep trying.

Mentioning bathtubs as portals is funny because:

The Portal Device was the third stage of a three tier program set out by Cave Johnson on his deathbed in 1979, designed to guarantee his company's future. Up until this point Aperture Science had almost wholly concentrated on the research and development of shower curtains; Johnson thought that a device that could create "some kind of rip in the fabric of space...would help with the shower curtains I guess."
Anyway, one of my dream characters has helped me teleport various times. The first time, it was at a video store (where I became absorbed into the movie case). The second time, she asked me to pick where, and sent me there.

Also, try walking/falling backwards into your Portal medium. A dream character told me this, as well. Our minds are programmed to dislike going headfirst into a solid object, y'know? Backwalking circumvents this.

You could try drawing a door or circle on a wall, and then passing through it, or even keeping a poster with you that has a picture of a door or curtained archway or something.

If you're into wordplay, you could use scissors to put a hole in your pocket, then take it out and jump through whenever you need to go somewhere.

I read a novel called "The Subtle Knife", and it gave me the idea to use a knife to travel between worlds. Simply slash the knife in the air, and an "opening" will appear. Climb through it, imagining where you want to end up, and that's where you will be on the other side.
A helpful tip is to run the knife quickly through the air. Don't try to "feel" the air and attempt to cut through it, I've tried this and it's only resulted in my frustration(As I can never feel the air, and therefore I can't travel).

      *taking notes*
I've been inducing myself into trying some kind of teleporting as well. I'll probably end up asking a DC about it. I'm not entirely sure about using doors since I rather be outside and hardly ever see or notice them in my dreams.

Portals? I don't really use portals, but I DO teleport. Basically I close my eyes and visualize where I want to be until it fully forms in my sight. No, I don't have to reopen my eyes, because they already WERE open in my visualization. Plus, you don't need any visualization skills to do it. You mostly will yourself to be there. Oh, and, that myth about not being able to close your eyes: bullshit.
