First I would Like to welcome you to dreamviews

There are several techniques that you can choose to inhance your dream expieriance. The Tutorials are a good place to start. Although a little broad, your question can have several answers. One way to induce a dream you would like is to simply think about it before you go to bed. But you must think about it without letting other thoughts getting in the way. It takes effort to soley think about one subject.
A good eight hours of sleep is always good to inhance dreaming as well, in addition to regularity.

As I understand it, we always dream if we are asleep long enough. The thing is, we don't always remember that we dreamed at all, so we think we didn't dream. The trick here is to work on your dream recall a bit. One of the best ways to do this is to keep a dream journal. Every time you wake up and can remember anything at all, even some insignificant detail from a dream, write it down. You'll often find that you remember more as you write. If you don't always have time for this, like me, try doing a similar thing in your head. Just find that one little thing, and start to narrate the dream to yourself while you get dressed, eat breakfast, or whatever it is you do in the morning. And one more thing: it helps to fall asleep with the intention of remembering your dreams. Try repeating "I will remember my dreams," or something similar, in your head a few times before sleeping.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

I disagree with your answer. Yes, it is true that we dream MOST of the times, and we forget about it. But when you are home from work, basketball/football game, or party, you get really tired. Once your tired, you just go straight to sleep. Your mind doesn't want you to dream because you had a exhausting day and your mind wants you to rest instead of having dreams. By the way, my brother saids that if we sleep without dreaming, in the morning you will feel good as new. But if u dream, then you would feel tired like "Oh i don't wanna go to work/school today."

Well, i hope my information can help you, but i like dreaming as well was lucid dreaming and dream controlling. It gives me a sense of freedom.

I disagree with YOUR answer. I have dreams almost every night, and when I do, I feel great in the morning. I don't know where you get this "if you dream you'll feel tired" stuff. I think that's just what your brother thinks. Not trying to sound mean or anything, sorry If I do. I myself tend to feel better if I do dream rather than If I don't, it could be different for different people. Think of it this way though, even if your mind wants you to rest, you can still dream because dreaming doesn't require moving your physical body.

I agree with Tsukin. Dreaming happens everyevery every every every and so on night. The REM phase is a part of the sleep cyclus. In the first phases the mind goes straight down to the lowest levels of sleep and the more tired you are the longer you stay down there. But a cyclus only last for aproximently 90 minutes so in the end your mind will surface and go into REM, where you dream. If your very tired then you will only be in REM for maybe max 5-10 minutes before the next cyclus begin and you fall all the way down again to DELTA where your body will regenerate itself. Its common to feel very groggy and "not in the mood" when awakened from this phase. Also when awakened from this state its so to say impossible to remember the last dream one had, not to speak of all the other dreams one had during the night.
When dreaming you have the same brainwaves as when you are awake so i understand why many can feel exhausted after dreaming. But I myself feel the best when awaking from a dream since the transition from dreaming to awake is so little that im littararly awake already.

      ~*A_P*~

There was a study conducted some time ago by scientists trying to understand the importance of dreaming. One group of people was repeatedly woken up during deep sleep mode (non-REM), while the other group was woken up just when they entered REM. The people who got REM but no deep sleep were fine -- just a little tired. The people who were missing out on REM sleep became increasingly phobic and paranoid and showed all the signs of sleep deprivation. Furthermore, after the study was concluded (it lasted about a week), they let everyone sleep for as long as they wanted and monitored their sleep cycles. The people who had missed out on REM sleep went into REM cycles almost immediately, with only ten minutes or less of deep sleep, and stayed there until morning. It was almost as though they needed to catch up on it.

For this reason, I would say that REM sleep is probably the more psychologically important and restful of the two.

I think the reason you don't recall dreams on those really deep sleep times is because it takes some (not much for me, but it varies from person to person) effort to recall one's dream. It also takes effort to be lucid. Thus I think it is probably this which causes a person to wake up so refreshed and not remember their dream. This happens to me several times a month. Best days of the year. I wake up and think, "Wow, that was a nice dream, but I don't want to stress myself trying to remember it." So I don't. That may be (subconsciously) what's happening to you.
It is important that we do not judge these few unbiased moments of our lives, but take them as they are. There is no nightmare for the lucid dreamer, nor no shadows on the mind.

I agree that we dream everynight. It's a very rare occurance for me to wake up and not remember any dream recall at all. If anything I know I had a really cool or important dream and I just can't recall it and then at some point I'll remember an imagine and the whole dream will come flooding in my mind. It's easier to remember a dream if you wake straight from it. I used to have myself trained to wake after every REM cycle of the night and record the dream but it's getting harder to fall back to sleep and get the sleep I need so I stopped doing this. Now I just wake about 6 hours of sleep and record and then go back to sleep for an hour or two and lucid dream.

your telling that dude not to listen to his brother, but how can u be sure your information is absolutley correct for everyone, or just right for u and a handful of mates.

im sure we're all different and the input for this site is brilliant. no need to yell. chill

heh, i like to act stupid every now and then, just tryin to get a rise out of someone. But you do dream everynight, its a fact of life....you dream just about every 90mins throughout (i'm drunk and that word doesn't look right at all) the night. I dont mean any harm when I yell, its just a lil more fun and i get my point accross Definately mature, just like to mix things up a bit sometimes, just have to get to know me
