      Doorway to Something

ive had this thought for some years.

has anyone summoned a doorway just to see what would be on the other side? i just tried it in my last LD but i woke up before i could open the door.

is this a good way for dream travel? i tried it in another one of my recent LDs by opening a power box but there was nothing in it even though i tried expecting it but i think there was a sense of doubt.

      anyone...anyone....any...one? ANYONE!!!

Well, from what I heard, some people use a door to change the scenario, so, make a door and expect that you'll be where you want when you open it. Then open it and walk through it and you should be there

Interesting idea, definitely worth doing if you feel like a change in scenery! I guess it would be a good way to travel if you can determine the other side, too.

      (Btw, loving your avatar!)

Yes! This is a great way to change the scene.

I remember a long time lucid dreamer, was very good at it, wrote many tutorials, said for a while that he almost got bored with lucid dreaming.
So he would do just that, summon a door, and open it to see what was on the other side. :]
This is a great idea if you're looking for some inspiration or wanting to change the enviroment.

      are you kidding me???

doors are awesome! one of the easiest ways to transition

once I wanted to start my dream over. so I imagined my own bedroom on the other side of the door. when I opened the door, I didn't enter my bedroom. Instead I opened my eyes. I was almost fooled, the FA was so real.

It was a neat way to re-stablize my dream and increase lucidity.

doors with windows can be a pain, because they already show whats on the other side. and they tend to show where you just were if you turn around. so not so useful for transitioning.

but you can be creative with any windowless opening. Imagine something you want behind a cabinet. Or if you know how to shrink yourself, you can go to the beach through a cabinet door.

When I don't think about what's going to be on the other side, I almost always get a beach.

It's a fun way to change dream scenes and very useful if all of your lucids start in your own room, as seems to be the case with me. It's also cool to write something on the door that will give your subconscious something to base it on but which will still be a surprise - e.g. write on the door "Entrance to the Woogly Chamber" or something.

Summoning a wrapped present and opening it yourself or giving it to someone is another fun surprise.

Love this idea. Also like the door idea. I once saw a closed door in a lucid dream and tried to will a specific scene to be behind it but when I opened it there was a completely different and unexpected scene, which was quite a cool experience

i did it again last night in my friends house (lucid dream) but i walked out the door and i didnt quite get anything like my avatar. i just got someones front yard but i was happy anyway because i was lucid.

i did try summoning up a door but nothing happened. i just need more practice i guess.

Haha, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one trying to get to scenes from Final Fantasy X! I tried to fly to Zanarkand at some point in a LD, but it never happened. haha

      Doors are awesome

I never thought of doors as a mean of transportation until then...

Once I became lucid in a car. The driver was driving the car in a huge field and not so far I saw a small shed with a door so I told the driver to stop by it. I openned it expecting a boat with pirates... i got a boat but not with pirates... They were explorators from Europe or something like that. Someone from the car had followed me through the door. The boat was on a small surface of water but it wasn't in the sea which didn't much make sense. Although I thought the experience was awesome I wasn't so much interested with the scene so I walked back through the door. I ended up in a hallway in the boat. The explorators weren't happy about em trying to leave. So they were comming after me and I started to run. There was also the person from the car that was running right behind me. I got to a smaller door openned it and closed it behind me. I was in the shed. I walked out and closed the door from the shed. The noise from the European explorators and the person from the car had banish. They were stuck in their own world. I thought that the fact that i had left the guy from the car down there really funny. That's when I woke up.

I can't wait to use a door again.. They can be so fun!

I wonder what it would be like jumping through a door that's lying on the floor... and falling into a room in which the door is vertical... Like in monster Inc.!

I was thinking about that the other day, except with my mirror. I always wondered what would happen if I became lucid in my bathroom and stepped into my mirror.

It's rare that I run across doors in my dreams anywhere outside of my home. Same thing with light switches and phones. I cannot recall a single instance of these two in any dream I have ever had. Is that weird?

I don't think I've ever tried summoning one out of nowhere, though. I don't know how effective that would be for me. :-/

Actually, a very practiced lucid dreamer named Tim uses this as a good method. He established the website lucidpedia, and he also has about 20 tutorials (10 basic and 10 advanced) on lucid dreaming which you can find on youtube. One episode is devoted completely to this. In fact, it's cool because he uses real life scenarios. Going out the door to his apartment, he met several people, whom he referred to as DC's. (on a side note, it was night. when he went outside, there was a party a couple blocks down. There were a couple of drunk people in their early twenties who started ranting on and on at him in some weird language. I think he lives somewhere weird like Denmark.) Anyways, I tried it one time. I opened a door and just stepped into a bathroom with no lights on. Closing the door, I turned the light back on. Then, I imagined a place I wanted to go, and I looked under the door. The light in the bathroom was the same level of light as the place I wanted to go, so it made it easier to believe the place was on the other side of the door. It's a great method for anybody. I did it around my 10th lucid (had 18 recorded since November . I've also had a couple that I decided not to post, and therefore not count)
