I think it has to do with the fact that in your dream you don't actually believe that you are able to fly. |

thankyou, i understand what you are saying. the fact that I dont truely belive that I can do it probably does have quite some effect. so self-confidence will have a profound effect. |

Selfconfidence is the key to control in lucid dreams, exactly. Good luck with that! |

I can always fly, all i did was jump then believed I was going to keep getting higher and higher and I did.I remember thinking in my head wow how do i remember the exact skyline in my home city...I just floated about 100 feet in the air and enjoyed the view I really want to learn to control my dreams more then this though, since i can only seem to realize im dreaming and usually wake up after about 30 seconds. |

This happens a lot. You just got scared, people don't like being up high with nothing supporting them. Maybe next time you want to go really high, try using a plane or a hang glider or something |
|
I say fly near the ground. It is much more fun. Dodging and swirving and all that. |
|
Bollocks.
ok then. cool |

I had this same problem in the beginning. The method I used was to think of my body as a plane. I would take off just like a plane would, starting low to the ground, and building up speed. The faster I would go, the higher I could go. Then after a while I was just able to take off from a standing position. Also, I would have to agree that belief is the key. |

I would suggest doing something inside your dream that would make you think you gained the ability to fly. Like say outloud, "HMM... if i drink this potion, I'll gain the power to fly!." And then conjure a potion and drink it. |

That happens to me sometimes, but I think the problem for me at least is that when I start falling in the air, I just think "why can't I fly?" then I'm convinced for some reason that I can't fly anymore, and I keep falling. |

it helps if you run and jump off something. |
